Nashville Celebrates Wynonna

Dignitaries, community and music industry leaders came together Tuesday night to celebrate Wynonna Judd with the Cecil Scaife Visionary Award for her humanitarian contributions to the local, national and international community.

“There was electricity in the air as Danny Gokey sang to Wy, one of his idols, and a lump in the throats of the audience throughout the evening as we had the honor of celebrating one of Nashville and the world’s most beloved stars, this time not for her one of a kind talent, but for her one of a kind heart,” said event Chairperson Pamela Davis Needham.

The Cecil Scaife Visionary Award honors one individual each year who, through their life and work, has made it possible for future generations to realize careers in the music industry and have a better chance at a successful life.

“I love everyone in this room tonight. I am truly humbled by your presence and need to say, this night isn’t about me, it is about we. Together we have made a difference.,” shared Wynonna.

Wynonna in Head-on Collission

According to the Tahoe Daily Tribune, Wynonna, her daughter, and her tour manager were briefly hospitalized after a head-on collision Wednesday night.

It’s a miracle that I’m alive,” said Wynonna…“I was in a major head-on collision yesterday and they didn’t want to let me out of the hospital, and I said ‘Listen, I’ve got to go do a show.’ And the guys were like, ‘If anybody can Wynonna, it’s you. You’ve shown us that you have quite the spunk.’ I said, ‘Listen, I’ve spent 10 years on a bus with my mother. If I can do that I can do anything.’”

Wynonna, her daughter, and her tour manager went out for sushi after a show, when they were hit head-on. So far, there have been no comments made about injuries sustained.

I can’t go into that,” she said. “What I can tell you it was pretty dramatic but I’m OK. … I know everybody wants to know details. I’m sure I’ll talk about it on a talk show somewhere down the road. But for right now you’re the only one who knows, which I don’t mind. I’m just telling stories that one day you’re on top of the world and the next day you’re in the emergency room with a CAT scan and you think, ‘Gosh, life is pretty precious and it’s pretty fragile sometimes and it’s a miracle that I survived this crash.’

“I’m not in grave danger or anything. It was pretty dramatic but I made it through. I’m really sore today but I’m really grateful to be alive and tonight’s show will be spectacular because I’ll be in a mood somewhere between being absolutely overjoyed that I’m OK and my daughter’s OK to just kicking the enemy’s butt and saying ‘Yep, you didn’t win today, buddy.’

We are so glad that everyone is OK. You can read more of the story here.

Wynonna Adds Some Spice to Cracker Barrel’s Old Country Store

Wynonna Judd is expanding her creative outlet with the help of Cracker Barrel Old Country Store®. A special collection of retail products, personally selected by Wynonna, will be available at all Cracker Barrel locations starting May 24th. The products reflect the savvy and successful lifestyle of a woman who is recognized as one of country music’s most accomplished artists.

“I think that Cracker Barrel represents everything that the Judds stood for: family, food and fellowship. I love the rocking chairs and I feel really good when I go to Cracker Barrel,” said Wynonna. “When we talked about a Wynonna collection of retail products for Cracker Barrel, I wanted items that women would see as useful in their everyday lives. All of our selections are high-quality, too. It’s like my mother said, ‘do it right, or don’t do it at all’.”

Wynonna’s partnership with Cracker Barrel started as a discussion about an exclusive CD of her music, and the conversation quickly grew to include a collection of retail products that mirrors her personal tastes. Wynonna believes the products will be well-received by women who balance the responsibilities of family, careers and their own personal enrichment.

Kenny Rogers Celebrates 50 Years with TV Special

Kenny Rogers

Kenny Rogers will be celebrating 50 years in the biz with a television special.  Joining him will be long-time friends Dolly Parton, Lionel Richie, Alison Krauss, Wynonna, The Oakridge Boys, and many  more. The special will not only feature some great musical entertainment, but comedy as well; and it will be filmed in 3D. So you can put your Grammy 3D glasses to use again when the special airs on April 10th.

Kenny Rogers: The First 50 Years will tape on April 10th, 2010 at the MGM Grand, and tickets will be available February 11th at 9am at www.mgmatfoxwoods.com,

When this was first proposed to me as a 50-year celebration, something about that sounded final, and I didn’t want that, so I suggested we call it ‘The First 50 Years,’” Rogers said. “I will tell you this, the first 50 years TV show is gonna be awesome – the next 50 years TV show is gonna be a bitch.”

The First 50 Years will reflect the diverse talent Kenny has crossed paths with and enjoyed friendships with throughout the years,” said Dreamcatcher Artist Management President/CEO Jim Mazza. “That is what will make this once-in-a-lifetime celebration so special.”

More details to come as artists are confirmed.
