The Jonas Brothers Cover (aka butcher) Keith Urban’s “Somebody Like You”

The only reason I’m posting this is because it’s absolutely cringe-worthy…I can’t even believe how absolutely….um…appalled I am that the Jonas Brothers had the nerve to even attempt to cover Keith Urban’s “Somebody Like You.”  I’m also not thrilled with the false southern accents they suddenly acquired.

“We Are The World” Remake Includes Big Country Music Names

wearetheworld

Just like 25 years ago, when musicians came together for the original “We Are the World,” country stars are in the mix this time, too.

Here are the singers with country ties who took part in the new recording last night: Miley Cyrus, Sugarland, Zac Brown, Julianne Hough and Jeff Bridges. Jeff Bridges has been singing country because of the movie, “Crazy Heart.” They joined dozens of others like Celine Dion, Barbra Streisand, Natalie Cole, the Jonas Brothers, Kanye West, Tony Bennett and Jennifer Hudson.

The original included Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings and Kenny Rogers, which was written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie. That first recording raised millions of dollars for famine relief in Africa. Money raised from this new recording is to help the people of Haiti.

Photo of the Day: Darius Rucker & the Jonas Brothers

Darius Rucker & Jonas Brothers

This is a picture from last year, but I just now found it. Darius Rucker and the Jonas Brothers posed for a picture while on Jimmy Kimmel Live.  This photo was found on www.DariusRucker.com.  For some reason, I find this very comical.

SheDaisy fills Stadium on July 4th

Okay, I’ll admit that titles a little slanted…SheDaisy and The Jonas Brothers played to 50,000 fans at the Stadium of Fire show in Utah on July 4th.  I’m willing to bet that about 49,000 of them weren’t there to see SheDaisy…

Carter Twins Don’t Want You to Give Up on Your Dreams

It’s no secret around here that we are HUGE fans of the Carter Twins.  We loved them as soon as we heard them harmonize the first time.  And now it seems that more and more people are starting to take notice.   South Carolina’s The State newspaper has a great article about the guys and a great message the Carter Twins gave Hilton Head Christian Academy during a recent performance.

“I know it sounds cheesy, but don’t give up on your dreams because they really can come true,” Zach told the crowd. “I know being on this small island, you wonder if you’ll ever get off it to do something big, and you can.”

The article goes on to tell some really cute stories about their childhood and why the Jonas Brothers couldn’t beat them in a fight. Check out the article and don’t forget to vote for the Carter Twins at www.cmt.com

Taylor Swift on CSI-BRAVO!!!

Even though I’m exhausted from my late night jaunt downtown Nashville for some CRS showcases, I skipped a nap and watched CSI via DVR….WOW!!!! I had a feeling Taylor Swift could act, but I was a tad leary about her pulling off a drama…TAYLOR-YOU NAILED IT!!!!  I mean, really well done.

Taylor played a troubled teen who’s life was a tangled web of lies carefully woven by her ‘parents.’  By the end of the show, Taylor had sported 3 different looks, several personalities, and she lay lifeless on the damp blacktop.  She was believable and likable; and I’m very impressed with her death scene…(apparently it’s very difficult to pull-off a decent death scene since I’ve seen so many terrible ones in my day).

I expect to see much more of Taylor Swift on the Big Screen and Silver Screen. Watch out Jonas Brothers and Miley Cyrus…There’s someone much more likeable with much more talent taking the world by storm.

Dierks Bentley is a Jonas Brothers Fan?!

It’s official, Hell has frozen over…Dierks Bentley tells OKMagazine that he listens to the Jonas Brothers.

“It’s good music! I actually downloaded ['Girl of My Dreams']. I hate to have that on tape. The line that stuck out was something about ‘you can take this, you can take that, you can take this awesome scarf my grandma made for me.’ I loved it. They’re singing it all punk.”

Wow…I never woulda seen this coming.  Dierks is a real dude, ya know?  I mean, he plays hockey, drinks beer, and is a self-professed “boob man.”  I never woulda seen the Jonas Brothers card played in a million years.

Dierks also admits he’s got a sentimental movie side too.  He enjoys The Devil Wears Prada and Days of Thunder.

“When Rowdy Burns asks Cole Trickle to drive his car in Daytona … that is a tender moment for any guy out there,” he confesses. “As a dude, as a NASCAR fan, that’s a big deal.”

Dierks, we love you man, but you may wanna keep the Jonas Brothers comment to yourself.

Grammy Line-Up Expands…Again…

There is another Grammy Performance added for Sunday night.  There will be a tribute to Bo Diddley featuring current nominees Buddy Guy, BB King, John Mayer, and Keith Urban.  These are the latest added to the star studded performances expected.

They join previously announced performers Adele; Chris Brown; Kenny Chesney; Coldplay; Estelle and Kanye West; Jennifer Hudson; Jonas Brothers; Kid Rock; Lil Wayne; Paul McCartney (with special guest drummer Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters); Katy Perry; Robert Plant & Alison Krauss; Radiohead; Rihanna; Sugarland; Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus; T.I. and Justin Timberlake; U2; Carrie Underwood; a Four Tops Tribute featuring Duke Fakir (2009 Lifetime Achievement Award recipient and original member of the Four Tops), Jamie Foxx and Ne-Yo; and Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, T.I. and Kanye Westin a special performance of their hit single “Swagga Like Us.”

Okay, I may actually watch now.  I won’t lie…I woulda probably set the DVR and watched it in fast forward.  Mainly because I wouldn’t be able to pass up the Taylor Swift/Miley Cyrus train wreck….I mean performance.  But now, I got me some Keith Urban to watch, so I’ll have two performances to hit the “play” button for.

You can read the full article here.  A special shout-out to Val for the heads-up.

Jonas Brothers May Not Be Country But For One Night They Sure Were

Thanks so our friends over a Nashville Gab for this video.  We were criticized for writing so much about the Jonas Brothers performing at the Ryman but it looks like we were not the only ones who thought that it was worth covering.  Just about everyone in country music was there that night and over half of them got on stage to perform with them.   Watch the video – there are BIG names there cheering them on.

Taylor Swift Reads Gossip Blogs!

Taylor Swift admits it — she’s a sucker for celeb gossip, too. She tells CMT that she goes on blogs, like Just Jared and Perez Hilton, “all the time” to see what’s going on with celebrities. She says she’s in the makeup chair a lot, and she likes to have things to talk about. Even when she’s the subject of gossip, she doesn’t care, as long as it’s not too mean. She says so far, the blogs have been really nice to her.

So, you thing Taylor reads us?  We would like to think so.  We have been relatively nice to Taylor and hopefully she likes all of our ranting about those horrible Jonas Brothers!

The Best Celeb Quotes of 2008

Well a few of our non favorites made the list of Best Celebrity Quotes of 2008 on People.com

“I toot under the sheets, I spend a lot of money and I can belch the ABC’s.”
– Jessica Simpson, on what her boyfriends put up with, to PEOPLE.

“I just want to say, it’s not bad to wear a promise ring, because not everyone, guy or girl, wants to be a slut.” – Jordin Sparks, addressing the night’s digs about the Jonas Brothers and their promise rings, while presenting at the MTV Video Music Awards (I know that the Jo Bros are not country but they dated a lot of country music stars this year)

“I feel so embarrassed.”
– Miley Cyrus, apologizing before the release of her back-baring Vanity Fair photo, to PEOPLE.

So all you Jessica Simpson fans, still think she is cute?  Do people really talk like that to a reporter?  Come on, gross!  Be a lady.  Oh – I forgot – you don’t know how to do that anymore.

I think it’s sweet that they wear purity rings.  Just think it’s a little unrealistic when you are mobbed by little girls everywhere on a daily basis.  Sorry, I know it’s very pessimisticof me but I think that the press has made me this way.   I just think it’s too hard for anyone to stay “pure” when they are in the spotlight and dating Miley Cyrus.

Ok Miley – one minute you are embarrassed then the next minute you LOVE the photographer and want to be her one day.  Hmmmm, assphincter says what?

Happy 2009 Everyone

We hope that everyone had a safe and Happy New Year.  Mine was very uneventful but fun.  We took our 2 & 3 year old bowling – it was pretty funny.  Then we came home and played board games with family until midnight.  I know – I sound like an old women.  I promise i’m not.  There was just NOTHING going on in town that interested me.

Craig Morgan rang in the new year at the Wildhorse Saloon.  From the reviews that I have read it was a decent show.  (If you were there email us at countrymusictattletale@yahoo.com and let us know how it was).

Of coarse the Trace Adkins concert at the Sommet Center in Nashville was cancelled due to low ticket sales.  Word is Trace spend the New Year with his family and relaxing.

As you already know Taylor Swift rang in the New Year in New York City with BFF Kellie Pickler.  They were on Dick Clark’s Rockin New Years Eve show.  I will be honest I didn’t see her perform but I did see her at the end standing within one square foot as her ex Jonas Brother.  She was a good sport but the look on her face was one of two things.   1.) It’s freezing out here and I just want some Starbucks   or  2.) Why the hell do they have me standing so close to that stupid Jonas Brother who broke up with me over the phone!

Maybe it was choice number 1.  Her Twitter account was updated and said:   “most likely have frostbite. THAT was fun!”

Here is a YouTube video from her performance last night.  Still love Taylor.  Think she looks amazing but doesn’t sound good at all.  Great performer but doesn’t have the vocals.
