Kenny Chesney’s Invitation Only Premiers on CMT this Month

Kenny Chesney is the latest superstar headed to the Invitation Only stage when an all-new episode premieres Monday, September 27 at 10:00 p.m.- 11:00 p.m., ET/PT.

Taped before a small studio audience in Nashville, the Invitation Only series features artists performing their biggest hits and new favorites, as well as answering questions from fans during an informal question and answer session.

In this one-hour special, Kenny performs some of his biggest hits including “When The Sun Goes Down”, “Out Last Night,” and more. Kenny also debuts five new songs from his forthcoming album, Hemingway’s Whiskey, including the title track and his latest single “Boys of Fall”.

While answering questions from fans, Kenny reveals the strangest gift he has ever received from a fan, gives his advice to new artists and discusses what stands out about his new album.

Invitation Only will debut monthly this fall with Toby Keith on Friday, October 8 and Rascal Flatts on Monday, November 15.

Thompson Square to Premier New Video on CMT App

Thompson Square’s music video for their new single, “Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not,” makes its exclusive world premiere on the new CMT Insider app on September 2nd. The music video will premiere on the new app and is available free for iPhone and iPod Touch devices.

Lasting through September 6th, country music fans can log on to www.cmt.com/app to download the app and catch the exclusive video directed and produced by Wes Edwards. The music video was filmed on the beaches and city streets in historic St. Augustine, FL.

CMT.com to Stream Live Trailer Choir Performance

CMT.com will stream a special concert performance by Trailer Choir on Tuesday, August 31st at 8:00 p.m. ET. The band will take questions from a select audience of contest winners, and deliver such fan-favorite songs as “Rockin’ the Beer Gut,” “Off the Hillbilly Hook” and their brand new single “Shakin’ That Tailgate.” The live stream is part of an ongoing series of live performances CMT.com featured throughout the summer with such artists as Lee Brice, Randy Houser, Joey & Rory, Joe Nichols and Blake Shelton.

CMT Artists of the Year – This is NOT another Awards Show

Country music’s top artists and celebrities from all facets of entertainment will gather for a glamorous evening filled with star-studded performances, tributes and camaraderie in celebration of the first ever, CMT Artists of the Year, a 90-minute special premiering Friday, December 3 on CMT. Performers and host to be announced.

CMT Artists of the Year will recognize five of the year’s top acts based on album and download sales, radio airplay, online activity and touring. The evening will also include multiple musical performances from the country world and beyond. Taping in Nashville, CMT Artists of the Year will take place in an elegant, yet relaxed setting that allows attendees to kick back, cut loose and enjoy the show.

New Eric Church Video- “Smoke a Little Smoke” Out TODAY on Yahoo

Eric Church shows fans what it’s like to make a music video with some behind-the-scenes footage of “Smoke a Little Smoke.” Take a look!

Eric will premiere his new video for “Smoke A Little Smoke” on Yahoo! Music today, August 13. The video will be available exclusively at Yahoo! Music for 24 hours. “Smoke A Little Smoke” is the third single from Church’s critically acclaimed album Carolina. Previous hits “Love Your Love The Most” and “Hell On The Heart” both spent time in the Top 10 of the country radio charts.

The video was directed by Peter Zavadil and shot at the Clarksville Speedway near Nashville. Making cameo appearances in the video are Kasey Kahn, Richard Petty Motorsports – Driver of the No. 9 Budweiser Ford Fusion, and ESPN’s NASCAR insider Marty Smith. Eric wrote or co-wrote all of the songs on Carolina including “Smoke A Little Smoke” which he penned with bandmates Driver Williams and Jeff Hyde. Church who has been touring non-stop to packed audiences kicks off “CMT On Tour” with headliner Miranda Lambert on September 29 in New York City.

Jennette McCurdy Takes You Behind the Scenes

Jennette McCurdy’s video for “Not That Far Away” will make its World Premiere on August 14 on CMT and Nickelodeon.  Jennette recently shot the video, which was directed by Roman White, in Watertown, TN near Nashville.  The video will premiere at 7:45pm EST/6:45pm CST on both CMT and CMT.com.  Nickelodeon will feature a Just Jennette segment starting at 8pm EST/7pm CST that will also showcase the video.

Check out this behind-the-scenes webisode of the making of the video.  Part 2 will be available starting August 12. 

“Not That Far Away” is the title track of Jennette’s EP being released digitally on August 17.

Taylor Swift- Just Another Broken Record

Taylor Swift will become the second female artist in the history of Billboard’s Hot 100 to debut multiple tracks in the Top 5 during a calendar year when her latest single, “Mine,” enters the chart at No. 3 on Thursday. “Mine” is the first single from Swift’s Speak Now album that hits stores on October 25th. The track was released digitally on August 4th and sits at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Digital Songs chart after being downloaded more than 297,000 in less than a week. Taylor’s “Today Was a Fairytale” debuted at No. 2 on the Hot 100 in February. Mariah Carey is the only other female to have multiple top-5 single debuts in a year.

CMT Will Launch First Sitcom in January

CMT will premier its first scripted comedy, “Working Class”, a half-hour, family-oriented sitcom starring Melissa Peterman in January 2011 on CMT.  “Working Class” follows the life of a single blue collar mom, who has recently moved her family to a rich suburban neighborhood to try and provide a better life for her kids, while proudly retaining her ‘working class’ roots.

“WORKING CLASS is a fantastic series to launch CMT into the sitcom format,” said Brad Johnson, senior vice president, development, CMT. “The combination of Melissa’s undeniable likeability and comedic skills and Jill Cargerman’s heartfelt, hilarious writing make this an optimistic, domestic comedy that appeals to the entire family.”

“It’s exciting to be a part of CMT’s entry into the scripted comedy world and I’m thrilled they are jumping in with me onboard,” said Peterman. “I loved the show and the character the first time I read the script – it’s funny, smart and the subject matter is relevant and relatable.”

Peterman, the host of CMT’s #1-rated series of 2009, “The Singing Bee”, recently starred in her first televised special MELISSA PETERMAN: AM I THE ONLY ONE for CMT.  She was recently signed to Big Machine Records to release her first comedy album and is currently on tour with Reba, George Strait and Lee Ann Womack.
