More ‘We’re All for the Hall’ Details…Keith Urban Packs-in the STAR Power

The 2nd annual Keith Urban & Friends We’re All for the Hall benefit concert is going to be bigger than ever!!! Joining Keith on stage for the Country Music Hall of Fame benefit will be Vince Gill, Dolly Parton and Charley Pride, John Mayer, Alan Jackson, Martina McBride, Miranda Lambert, Alison Krauss, and Billy Currington.

“This year we’ve created a musical theme called ‘Heroes,’” said Urban.
“I’ve asked each artist to play one of their favorite songs from one of their country heroes, besides of course, one of their own hits. There’s no doubt that this audience is going to experience a really special night – some of their favorite artists doing songs that, in some cases, they may have never even played live before…and quite possibly won’t ever again.”

Last year’s benefit raised over $500,000 for the hall of fame….this year’s concert promises to be bigger and better.

Reserved seat tickets, which are priced at a family friendly $25 and $35 plus fees, will go on sale Friday, September 17th, at 10:00 a.m. at ticketmaster.com, all Ticketmaster locations and the Bridgestone Arena Box Office. Tickets may also be charged by phone at (800) 745-3000.

VIP packages ranging from $1,000-$3,000 will go on sale at the Country Music Hall of Fame box office on Friday, September 17th, at www.countrymusichalloffame.org and include everything from one on one meet n’ greets, autograph guitars, premium concert seats, and dinner invitations.

“Draw Me A Map”- Dierks Bentley’s Next Single

Dierks Bentley will release “Draw Me A Map” as the second single off his bluegrass inspired album Up On the Ridge. The pleading ballad ships this week and goes for official adds on August 23rd.

“When we were making this album, we didn’t follow the rules of what a modern ‘country’ record should or should not sound like…we just tried to make a great album that wasn’t defined by genre,” explains Bentley. “To see country radio get on board and play this music…it really means a lot to me. The fans have been asking for “Draw Me a Map” ever since we released the album…I can’t wait to hear through my truck speakers!”

While critics continue to praise Up On the Ridge in its entirety, Bentley’s songwriting and delivery of “Draw Me A Map” has the Washington Post and Entertainment Weekly naming the ballad as their most recommended track.

“The wistful ‘Draw Me A Map’ ranks among Bentley’s most poignant ballads, with its aching lead vocal performance.” Paste

“’Draw Me a Map’ finds Bentley softly pining for a route back to his lost lover’s doorstep, those clarion pipes sounding more genuine than ever.” Washington Post

“Bentley’s ballads remain one of his many strong points. ‘Draw Me A Map,’ a song he and Randall co-wrote, is a good example.” Pittsburgh Post-Gazettet

You can take a look of Dierks singing “Draw Me a Map” above. Alison Krauss joins Dierks on the single. This is my favorite song from Up On the Ridge.

Dierks Bentley’s ‘Up on the Ridge’ Available June 8th

Dierks Bentley will release new acoustic album Up on the Ridge on June 8. His fifth studio project has bluegrass roots that moved Bentley to become a country musician in the first place. The lead single and title track, inspired by time spent on a plot of land in rural Tennessee, will be released to country radio on April 12.

“I fell in love with this kind of music the first time I walked into the Station Inn with a fake I.D. at 19 years old … these guys, who were my age, were playing their instruments so hard it knocked your head back. After that, I never missed a Tuesday night there in almost eight years,” explains Bentley. “Without the whole bluegrass community taking me in, I would have had no place to start from. It is my foundation.”

Kenny Rogers Celebrates 50 Years with TV Special

Kenny Rogers

Kenny Rogers will be celebrating 50 years in the biz with a television special.  Joining him will be long-time friends Dolly Parton, Lionel Richie, Alison Krauss, Wynonna, The Oakridge Boys, and many  more. The special will not only feature some great musical entertainment, but comedy as well; and it will be filmed in 3D. So you can put your Grammy 3D glasses to use again when the special airs on April 10th.

Kenny Rogers: The First 50 Years will tape on April 10th, 2010 at the MGM Grand, and tickets will be available February 11th at 9am at www.mgmatfoxwoods.com,

When this was first proposed to me as a 50-year celebration, something about that sounded final, and I didn’t want that, so I suggested we call it ‘The First 50 Years,’” Rogers said. “I will tell you this, the first 50 years TV show is gonna be awesome – the next 50 years TV show is gonna be a bitch.”

The First 50 Years will reflect the diverse talent Kenny has crossed paths with and enjoyed friendships with throughout the years,” said Dreamcatcher Artist Management President/CEO Jim Mazza. “That is what will make this once-in-a-lifetime celebration so special.”

More details to come as artists are confirmed.

Country Music Mix Up

Vince Gill – Getting Grammy Honor

Vince Gill is being honored by the Grammy people. Their first-ever Grammy Salute to Country Music will go to him. Vine will be surrounded by friends at the tribute September 9 in Nashville. Brad Paisley, Alison Krauss, Michael McDonald, Steve Martin and Gill’s wife, Amy Grant, will heap praise on him. Vince has won 20 Grammy awards so far. He’s sold more than 26 million albums. And, two years ago, he was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Michelle Branch – Still Country

Michelle Branch is still country. Her first solo CD in six years proves it. “Everything Comes and Goes” will be released in the late fall. But, the first single, “Sooner or Later,” is at iTunes now and will be on country radio August 11. Michelle may have surprised some people three years ago when she turned a corner, switching from pop to country-pop with The Wreckers. She says this new album comes from her realization she wanted to be on her own again: no duos, no groups.

Alan Jackson – Sets Record On A Lake

You could hardly tell there was any water on Lake Martin during Aquapalooza on Saturday. It looked like it was all boats. More than 4,000 boats were packed in on the lake. And, an estimated 35,000 people were there to hear Alan Jackson perform. The number of boats is said to be a record for any single event on a lake. Alan pulled up to the dock in his 1923 Hacker Craft. The show was taped for a CMT special that’ll run Labor Day weekend.

Dierks Bentley’s Presidential Shout-Out

Last night fans from around the country watched the live stream of the White House Music Series: country edition.  Audience members enjoyed performances by Brad Paisley, Charley Pride, and Alison Krauss. Besides seeing country music represented at our nations capital; I think the highlight was President Obama quoting Dierks Bentley

“A lot of people think I’m a city boy, but I do appreciate listening to country music,” Obama said in his opening remarks. The President praised country’s dedication to storytelling, said the music “contributed to the life of this nation and chronicled the history of our people”

“Dierks Bentley called (country), ‘The best shrink that fifteen bucks can buy,’” Obama said

You can read the full article in the Tennessean.

What did Dierks Bentley have to say about the President quoting him?  Well, right before he took to the Grand Ole Opry stage, he told CMT

“That is so badass. Way awesome. To have the president of the United States quote you? It is unreal.”

The above video is a short clip of Brad’s performance at The White House.

The White House is Going Country

See I told you country music was the place to be.  Even the President of the United States understands how important country music is.

The White House will continue its music series celebrating the arts and demonstrating the importance of arts education by featuring Country Music and its stars Brad Paisley and Alison Krauss and Union Station. Paisley and Krauss will participate in an educational workshop from 2-3 PM where 120 middle and high school students from across the nation will come to learn about the craft of songwriting and country’s musical traditions. The musicians will then perform at 7:30 PM – President Obama will make remarks at this evening event.

The Country Music Celebration is presented with assistance from The Country Music Association, the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, and produced by the Grand Ole Opry and Great American Country Television.

The First Lady launched the White House Music series to encourage arts and arts education. The White House featured Jazz last month and will feature Classical music this fall.
