CMA Music Festival: Country’s Night to ROCK! Who Rocked your Night??

Okay, so last night was CMA Music Festival: Country’s Night to Rock!!!  What did y’all think??  Who ROCKED your night???  Maybe it was Miranda Lambert??  Or maybe Carrie Underwood, Brad Paisley, Zac Brown Band, or Keith Urban nabbed the favorite spot in your heart…We want to know what you thought of the 3 hour special last night on ABC!  Leave us your comments!

My personal favorite was Keith Urban (obviously)…I mean, what a way to kick-off the show.  I also enjoyed the behind-the-scenes footage of Taylor Swift’s 13 (actually 14.5) hour meet n’ greet.  Say what you will about the girl, NO ONE can top her fan interaction and appreciation.  I actually get teary watching her with her fans. I also wish Martina McBride would’ve gotten  more air time.  The lady had a sold-out stadium in awed-silence then brought them to their feet in an amazing standing ovation…

Who were your favorites? Least favorites?  Who left you wanting more???  Did you make you excited to make the trip to Nashville next summer??  If you just have to be in the midst of all the action next year; it’s never to early to get your tickets!  Click here to get your tickets to the 2011 CMA Music Festival!  You really don’t wanna miss it!

Joey + Rory Fly High with Southwest & Hit the Road with Don Williams

Joey+Rory are flying high and a national sweepstakes with Southwest Airlines that has them on top of the clouds.

“I’m going to Disney World!” laughs Rory. “Actually I really am. We’re flying Southwest Airlines today with our girls for a quick trip before embarking on a working cruise with Zac Brown Band and country music fans. We will certainly celebrate the nominations on the high seas!”

Flying Southwest Airlines is a regular routine for the duo so it was only natural to team up with the airline for a “This Trip’s For You” Sweepstakes.

Southwest Airlines will send one lucky winner and their guest to Houston to see Joey+Rory live at the House of Blues on Friday, October 8th as they celebrate the release of their new album.

One Grand Prize winner will receive Two (2) round-trip tickets compliments of Southwest Airlines to Houston TX (from the closest airport served by Southwest Airlines), a one-night stay in Houston, and a VIP Meet & Greet with Joey+Rory backstage. Second Prize: Five (5) winners will receive an autographed copy of the new Joey+Rory CD “Album Number Two” and a Joey+Rory t-shirt.

September 1st is Country’s Night to Rock!!

“CMA Music Festival: Country’s Night to Rock” airs Wednesday, September 1st (8:00-11:00 PM/ET) on ABC. Tim McGraw serves as host for the annual celebration of America’s music.

The special features performances by Jason Aldean, Billy Currington, Alan Jackson, Kid Rock, Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert, Martina McBride, Reba McEntire, Tim McGraw, Justin Moore, Brad Paisley, Kellie Pickler, Rascal Flatts, Darius Rucker, Blake Shelton with Trace Adkins, Josh Turner, Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, and Zac Brown Band filmed in front of a sold-out audience in June during CMA Music Festival in Nashville.

One highlight of the show is a special performance by reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year Taylor Swift, who premiered her new single “Mine” for her fans at a top-secret private event in Nashville during CMA Music Festival.

Viewers will also enjoy two collaborative performances filmed at Fuel Bar & Nightclub in Downtown Nashville in front of a jam-packed crowd of Festival attendees. First, Dierks Bentley and Jamey Johnson join Lambert to sing “Bad Angel.” Later, Uncle Kracker and Kid Rock perform “Good To Be Me.”

Offering an insider’s glimpse at the Festival, Lady Antebellum allowed cameras to follow them for a day at the event. Viewers will see the reigning CMA Vocal Group of the Year perform at their fan club party, interact with Festival attendees during an unplanned appearance in the Fan Fair Exhibit Hall, and more.

This year, CMA Music Festival served as the Grand Re-Opening of Nashville, after the city and surrounding areas experienced a devastating flood in May. The flood, the recovery efforts, and the coming together of the Nashville community to help its fellow citizens will be spotlighted in the television special. CMA is donating 50 percent of this year’s net proceeds from the Festival to the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee for flood relief. As always, the other 50 percent of net proceeds will be donated to the Nashville Alliance for Public Education through CMA’s Keep the Music Playing program to purchase instruments and supplies for music education in Metro Nashville Public Schools.

The annual CMA Music Festival is unlike any other, with four days filled with more than one hundred hours of live music, 30 hours of autograph signings by Country Music’s biggest names and up and comers, hundreds of artists and celebrities, and a party list of thousands of avid fans. This is the sixth time ABC will broadcast this special – which invites the whole country to America’s biggest Country Music bash – since the original Fan Fair® was launched in 1972. This year an average of 65,000 fans from every state and 26 foreign countries attended each day of CMA Music Festival, its biggest turnout yet.

Zac Brown Band Gives Fans the Cream of the Crop in “You Get What You Give”

When the new album from the Zac Brown Band is released in September we’ll hear a little Texas swing, some jam-band jams and lots of harmony along the lines of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young and The Eagles.   Zac says the Allman Brothers Band was an influence as well. He also says “You Get What You Give” is a more mature piece than their current mega-hit, “The Foundation.”

The band “writes all the time.” But, he says there’s no way they could record everything they write. So, he promises that “this is the cream of the crop of the last three or four years.” “You Get What You Give” will be available September 21.

New Music from Zac Brown Band on September 21st

‘You Get What You Give,’ the much-anticipated studio album from Zac Brown Band, on September 21st.

The album features a genre-defying collection of songs that the band has been testing on the road over the past year. Stand out tracks include: the somber piano-driven early fan favorite “Colder Weather,” the reggae-leaning, jam-inducing “Who Knows,” and a harmony-laced lesson on the merits of chasing after love “As She’s Walking Away.”

Praised for the ability to blend “down-home country with bits of reggae, bluegrass and rock to create a high-quality musical stew” (USA Today), front man Zac Brown notes that the new album “is representative of where we are right now. It combines elements of our southern rock and country roots, but also stays true to our jam-band style musicianship from the live show.”

Zac Brown Band is touring throughout the summer and joining Dave Matthews Band on several remaining dates:

July 16 & 17 – Citi Field – New York, NY
July 23 – Nationals Park – Washington, DC
