Rascal Flatts Encounter Robot Kid

Rascal Flatts encounter a mysterious, unknown dancing phenom in Hartford. Listen as the band describes the event as it took place.
Then watch the live video from the show.  LOVE IT!  Make sure to watch the video all the way to the very end.  It’s precious.

After the video from the band was released a local radio station has been in contact with Robot Kid’s parents and they hope to have it worked out to where he can meet Rascal Flatts in person soon.

Rascal Flatts Close Out the KY State Fair With a BANG!

I feel like I have written a Rascal Flatts concert review every week this summer.  I’m not complaining, just wondering what on earth I am going to write about after this.   Last night Rascal Flatts closed out the 2010 Kentucky State Fair and blew the roof off of Freedom Hall.

The high energy show was no disappointment to fans and fair goers.  Chris Young and Kellier Pickler both offer a stand out show and keep the crowd entertained and singing along to every word.   Chris has really stood out to me on the Nothing Like This Tour.  His charming smile and boyish good looks melt the women in the audience and his fun, party demeanor make the guys wanna party hard.

My husband laughs at me because every time I come home from a Rascal Flatts show.  When asked if I had a good time my exact words are ususally, “That was the best show I have seen this summer!”  “Even better than the last one!”  He just shakes his head and grins.

When I tell you Rascal Flatts put on a high energy, fan interactive great show I am not kidding.  Last night seemed to be all about the kids.  Gary managed to pull 4 different kids up on stage from the audience to sing along.

The Nothing Like This Tour has been so amazing to me this summer.  Great music, tons of new friends and unforgettable memories.  Can’t wait for 2011!

The Story of a 9 Year Old Rascal Flatts Super Fan

I was scanning the web this morning looking for new country music news and ran across this precious story of a 9 year old Rascal Flatts super fan.

While most kids her age are fanning themselves over the likes of Justin Bieber or the Jonas Brothers, 9-year-old Samantha Reick has acquired quite the crush on country supergroup Rascal Flatts.

And for good reason.

Nine-year-old Samantha Reick of Channahon will have her special pink and sparkly cowboy hat on when her mom, Michelle, takes her to Saturday’s Rascal Flatts concert.

Reick will join her mom, Michelle, this weekend as they take the short drive to the First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre in Tinley Park to attend the girl’s 21st Rascal Flatts concert.

“We took Samantha to her first Rascal Flatts show when she was just 4 years old and she has been hooked ever since,” Michelle said.

Brown-haired, blue-eyed Samantha, who hails from suburban Channahon, gushed, “I have pictures of them all over my bedroom. I have a bunch of drumheads and drumsticks that their drummer has given me. And I can’t sleep without my pillowcase that has a picture of me and the band.

“I started making signs for this concert months ago. The one I’m bringing this time says, ‘I love Rascal Flatts, Love, Sam from Chicago.’ They will definitely know who ‘Sam from Chicago’ is!”

In fact, it’s hard to miss her.

“I’m pretty sure the guys in the band always seem to find me in the crowd because of my cowboy hat. It’s pink and sparkly.”

Her concert stats are enough to make any groupie envious. She has been brought up onstage by lead singer Gary LeVox eight times, including during last year’s sold-out performance at Wrigley Field. She has met the band four times, including one night where she was serenaded with a “Happy Birthday” tune by the country threesome as she waited outside the band’s tour buses at 2 a.m.

“I don’t get nervous at all,” said Samantha, also a fan of country crooners Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift, Darius Rucker and Lady Antebellum. “They are always nice to me, and I love waving to the crowd when I am up onstage. If I’m having a bad day, all I have to do is hear the guys and it makes everything better!”

Mother and daughter first saw the band at the Illinois State Fair, and “it was a nightmare,” Michelle recalled. “Torrential rain, mud on the cowboy boots and a 4-year-old made for a long night. But you could see in her eyes how much she loved them and their songs.”

Soon after, the duo became members of the Rascal Flatts Fan Club and, in exchange, would score the best seats in the house for every concert, enabling Samantha and her pink cowboy hat to be within eyeshot of the band. Through the years, her concert adventures have taken her everywhere from Tennessee to Michigan and everywhere in between to see the country group, known for songs such as “Life is a Highway” and “Bless the Broken Road.”

And not only do friends and family get a kick out of listening to her post-concert stories, but so do the teachers at Pioneer Path Elementary School in the far southwest suburb, where Samantha is a student.

“They always spend Monday asking Samantha to tell them all of her stories,” laughed Michelle. “I just love seeing how excited she gets. These guys are big in country music. They certainly don’t need to pay her such attention. But they do. I thank them every chance I can.”

Rascal Flatts ROCK Their Home State of Ohio

Rascal Flatts were back for another unbelievable show in Cincinnati, OH on Friday night.  There was something in the air that told us the energy was going to be high and the music was going to be great!

The weather was PERFECT for an outdoor venue show.  Unfortunately, I missed Chris Young’s opening set but hear he did a fantastic job.  Kellie Picker took the stage after Chris in a cute all black dress.  She looked great and was full of a lot more energy than the last time I had seen her.  Her set is full of her fans favorites and she even throws a little Dolly Parton in there for an extra sing along kick.

As always, Rascal Flatts hit the stage just a little after 9pm with a huge explosion.  As a long time Flatts fan I must say this has been my favorite set list yet!  We get to hear all of our favorites starting with Prayin’ for Daylight all the way through their current sinlge Why Wait.

We even got a glimpse of Gary’s mom sitting front in center jammin along to every word of every song.

Find out if the Nothing Like This Tour is coming to a city near you at www.rascalflatts.com.

You can see the rest of the pictures from the show on our Flickr page: http://www.flickr.com/photos/countrymusictattletale/sets/

September 1st is Country’s Night to Rock!!

“CMA Music Festival: Country’s Night to Rock” airs Wednesday, September 1st (8:00-11:00 PM/ET) on ABC. Tim McGraw serves as host for the annual celebration of America’s music.

The special features performances by Jason Aldean, Billy Currington, Alan Jackson, Kid Rock, Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert, Martina McBride, Reba McEntire, Tim McGraw, Justin Moore, Brad Paisley, Kellie Pickler, Rascal Flatts, Darius Rucker, Blake Shelton with Trace Adkins, Josh Turner, Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, and Zac Brown Band filmed in front of a sold-out audience in June during CMA Music Festival in Nashville.

One highlight of the show is a special performance by reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year Taylor Swift, who premiered her new single “Mine” for her fans at a top-secret private event in Nashville during CMA Music Festival.

Viewers will also enjoy two collaborative performances filmed at Fuel Bar & Nightclub in Downtown Nashville in front of a jam-packed crowd of Festival attendees. First, Dierks Bentley and Jamey Johnson join Lambert to sing “Bad Angel.” Later, Uncle Kracker and Kid Rock perform “Good To Be Me.”

Offering an insider’s glimpse at the Festival, Lady Antebellum allowed cameras to follow them for a day at the event. Viewers will see the reigning CMA Vocal Group of the Year perform at their fan club party, interact with Festival attendees during an unplanned appearance in the Fan Fair Exhibit Hall, and more.

This year, CMA Music Festival served as the Grand Re-Opening of Nashville, after the city and surrounding areas experienced a devastating flood in May. The flood, the recovery efforts, and the coming together of the Nashville community to help its fellow citizens will be spotlighted in the television special. CMA is donating 50 percent of this year’s net proceeds from the Festival to the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee for flood relief. As always, the other 50 percent of net proceeds will be donated to the Nashville Alliance for Public Education through CMA’s Keep the Music Playing program to purchase instruments and supplies for music education in Metro Nashville Public Schools.

The annual CMA Music Festival is unlike any other, with four days filled with more than one hundred hours of live music, 30 hours of autograph signings by Country Music’s biggest names and up and comers, hundreds of artists and celebrities, and a party list of thousands of avid fans. This is the sixth time ABC will broadcast this special – which invites the whole country to America’s biggest Country Music bash – since the original Fan Fair® was launched in 1972. This year an average of 65,000 fans from every state and 26 foreign countries attended each day of CMA Music Festival, its biggest turnout yet.
