Well, I told you guys about some changes coming about a week or so ago, and I guess I should fill you all in…
First of all, I’m so grateful for the opportunity that I’ve had 2 work with Arista records! Ive learned a lot and made some great friends!
Unfortunately, Arista & I have decided to go our seperate ways! They called & said that they would be moving forward without me!
Im glad 2 have had the opportunity 2 be there for the last 4 years & am grateful 4 them giving me the chance 2 connect with all of my HTF’s!
Now, that being said, there are plans being made to go back into the studio & record new music, the second week of March!
With these new songs, we will shop them around Nashville & hopefully find someone who believes in what I do as much as you all do!
We will still be touring this year as much as we can! We still look forward to hanging out with all of our Honky Tonk Friends!
Again, I’m grateful for the opportunity that I’ve had & to my true HTF’s…nothing is over, just planning the next move…

According to Jason the tour dates have NOT cancelled. He says all shows are still on and he will be there.

K92 All Star Acoustic Jam with guest Bomsel, Trailer Choir, Jason Michael Carroll, Justin Moore, Chris Young, Josh Thompson and Joe Nichols – A Fan Review

JMCFan Review

The annual Acoustic Jam is always a big deal here in Orlando and once again another sold out show at the Hard Rock.

First up was Bomsel. I never saw them and was excited. I was so impressed with them. They played a cover of The Devil Goes To Georgia and the crowd went nuts they were so lively on stage and might have been my favorite of the night.

Next up was Trailer Choir. Out of all the artist they were the only one that I have seen live. There songs might be a little childish but man they put on a great show. One of the most entertaining groups I have seen.

Next up was Josh Thompson. Love his EP and was wondering what he would be like live. He sure didnt disappoint. He interacted with his band a lot and was a true outlaw country artist. The biggest song for him is his Beer on the Table and the crowd knew every word.

Jason Michael Carroll was up next. His CD doesnt do him justice! His voice is amazing live and really connected with the crowd!

Chris Young was up after. I have friends that have seen him 150 times live and always talk greatly about them. Most people there only knew his number 1 hit but he still made sure people were on there feet at all times.

Next up was Justin Moore. He has cancelled his last 2 apperances in Orlando so I was anxious to see him. To be honest I wasnt as impressed with him as I thought. I was disappointed with his performance.

The last artist was Joe Nichols and man what a performance. Each artist only did about 6 songs but he took those 6 songs and sang them so good. He played his hits and his new song Gimme the Girl.

Then all the artist came on stage and sang together. It was such a mess in the beginning but in the end it was the most entertaining thing of the night. Justin Moore grabbed an empty bottle of Jack Daniels had all the artist sign it and thre it in the crowd! Probably not the smartest thing to throw a glass bottle in the crowd! All around it was a great night of country music.

A special thanks to only1nickster28 for sending us your review.

Tuesday Night Opry Review

Opry 12-1-09 117

This past Tuesday, Tawny and I went down to the Ryman for my first Grand Ole Opry experience. We saw Jason Michael Carroll, Jimmy Wayne, Whispering Bill Anderson, The Whites, and Dierks Bentley.  This was also my first time hearing Jason Michael Caroll and Jimmy Wayne live. I must say I was not disapointed.

Jason Michael Carroll sang “Where I’m From” and “Hurry Home”, his new single which is such a gut wrenching song. Every time I hear it I mist up. I was very impressed with his vocal talent, he is one of the best live performers I have heard and I must say I love the new haircut!

Jimmy Wayne sang “I Love You This Much” and “Sara Smile”. I really love this new single and hearing it live was just as great, he has such a smooth voice. After hearing him sing Sara Smile live it really made me wish my name was Sara.

Dierks was the last to take the stage after some rousing christmas tunes from Bill Anderson, and a round of bluegrass which I appreciate but do not love.  He sang “Lot of Leavin’ Left To Do”and my personal favorite “Wanna Make You Close Your Eyes”.  Hearing that song live is fantastic, I love Dierks Bentley even if he didn’t come out and sign autographs after the show like Jimmy Wayne did.

All in all my first Opry experience was a good one, I will definitely be back!

Heard it through the grapevine? Drop me a line! Peggysue@countrymusictattletale.com

New Music Weekend – Josh Thompson

Josh Thompson, of Cedarburg, Wisconsin, arrived in Nashville in 2005. Josh instantly starting writing and quickly established himself as a country artist on the rise. Thompson formed a band and drew in a huge fan base by playing raucous, energetic live shows all over the country. Josh’s raw talent, in both songwriting and performing, caught the attention of hit songwriters and eventually led to a major record deal with Columbia Nashville. Thompson’s blue collar lifestyle influences every song he has written, as he tells his stories with candor, honesty and a good-natured spirit.

His debut single, “Beer On The Table,” is one of the most down-to-earth working man’s anthems in years, a look at the dance between work and play, and the hard-won, easy-go nature of money that ties them together. There’s been a few songs lately talking about work, jobs, and things of that sort by various artist, but this is one is my favorite. It’s another fun song, with of course the catchy up-beat music that I think could also lead up to a big hit.

Josh received his first major songwriter credit with a song called “Growing Up Is Getting Old”, which is the title track of Jason Michael Carroll‘s current album. The song goes on to tell how he use to party a lot when he was younger. Now people are telling him that he needs to start acting his age, because he’s raised enough hell for the next 50 years. He and his best friend use to stay out all night, and now his friend is married and can’t do much of the partying anymore. Josh realizes that it’s time to grow up, and obviously doesn’t like the idea, and thinks growing up is already getting old. Good song, I don’t know if it’s suppose to be funny at all, but I got a few laughs from it.

Josh’s Columbia Nashville debut, Way Out Here, showcases a man who has lived the music he makes. Produced by Michael Knox (Jason Aldean) Way Out Here features 10 songs solely written or co-written by Josh.

Jason Michael Carroll Tells Runaways to “Hurry Home”

courtesy of Country Music Association

courtesy of Country Music Association

Jason Michael Carroll and Arista Nashville have teamed up with the National Runaway Switchboard to raise awareness of the runaway crisis in America.  Jason’s second single “Hurry Home” off of his album Growing Up is Getting Old portrays the struggles of a father and his runaway daughter.

Jason’s song speaks to millions of people from youth to parents to siblings and families who are affected every day by a young person’s decision to run from home. He is committed to helping address this national crisis,” said Maureen Blaha, NRS executive director. “This is an opportunity for a long-term relationship that will help further our mission of keeping America’s runaway and at-risk youth safe and off the streets.”

Jason feels he can be a voice since his family was personally touched by the runaway crisis.

“I was so young when my aunt left home that I grew up not knowing who she was – just someone we prayed for every night,” says Carroll. “For all the families who are missing someone dear to them, and for all the young people who need a hand getting home, or staying home, I hope that what we’re doing can help bring attention to an important issue and to the great resources available through NRS.”

Jason is assuming the role of spokesperson for the NRS. Public service announcments and public appearances on behalf of the organization are currently underway.

Joe Nichols Concert – A Fan Review

Our friend Amanda caught up with Joe Nichols at a local show last week.

My local country station WGAR in Cleveland has been putting on free shows all summer at the Quaker Steak and Lube down the road from me. Each show is acoustic and to me is one of the best ways to see an artist in my opinion. This summer alone we’ve seen Steve Holy, Jessica Andrews, Jason Michael Carroll, Randy Houser, Jack Ingram and last night it was Joe Nichols. I’d been a fan of Joe and the songs he put out for years now. I had never seen him live before so when the opportunity arose that he’d be playing a free show less then five minutes down the road from me I jumped on it to say the least.

Joe sang several of his hits, two new songs and one cover song. He was cracking jokes with the audience and taking requests. It seemed every time he asked if someone had a song they wanted to hear the crowd would yell back Tequila and every time he would tell them it was coming or he was working towards it. One thing that really stuck out with me was how he handled the crowd. The people down front seemed to be offering him up drinks left and right, like they seem to do with all the acts that do these shows. He turned them down in a way only I think he could pull off. He’d joke with the fans offering that he was drinking with them in spirit or would toast them with his invisible glass as I call it. About half way through his set he told the audience he felt so far away from them and asked if anyone would object him moving out to the uncovered portion of the stage. No one did so he and his two band members moved up and finished the show from there. He had great interaction with the crowd even if the show was purely acoustic.

I have seen some artist just sit on a stool and sing their songs, not ask for the audience to participate. Joe did. He had us all singing along all through out the show and wanted us involved as much as we could be. A few times he joked that we weren’t being loud enough and would repeat things in order to get the crowd louder. I honestly had a great time at the show and know when Joe comes back to town I’ll be doing my best to see him.

After his set Joe stayed and signed for hours I’m sure. I got in line as quickly as I could and I’m glad I did. I was near the front of the line and the line wrapped outside the building and into the parking lot. He was very personable and didn’t rush anyone. He allowed everyone to have the amount of time they wanted. It was really refreshing. He signed everything and said thank you to at least four times in the few minutes I had with him. I was able to get a picture with him two autographs. He made a joke when I asked him to sign my coaster because he asked if I was really old enough to be at the bar. Truth be told I am and he laughed at that. I also had him sign my cell phone, he was a little reluctant but I told him he could, so he did.

Like I said the show was a great one and can’t to see him again. So thank you Joe, WGAR and Quaker Steak and Lube for an awesome show and night!

I wanna come to your town and hang out! You have some great acts stopping in at your lcoal Quaker Steak & Lube! Nashville WSIX, what do we have to do to get some acts like this in our area?

Billy Currington Cancels Show
