Stars React to Their CMA Nominations

This morning…many of country music’s biggest stars were given some pretty great news when they heard their name’s announced as CMA Music Award nominees…For many, it was the first time ever, or at least in a very long while.

Miranda Lambert-
“I’ve had a band for 10 years and its all coming together this year,” said Lambert. “This means so much to me to be recognized by my friends. We all work together and pull for each other. Thank you country music for letting me live my dreams. God bless this industry and my fans!”

Keith Urban-
“I just found out about the noms…man, what can I say….HUGE MASSSIVE THANK YOU to everyone who not only made these nominations possible, but also brought a whole new level of passion to our shows this year….from the fans, to country radio, to the Nashville community, I appreciate it more than you can possibly imagine!!!!!”

Lady Antebellum-
“The year just keeps getting better and better,” said Dave Haywood. “Charles, Hillary and I are so thankful for our families and also the family we’ve made in Nashville within the music industry who continue to support us on this crazy ride.”

“And country radio…and our fans! They’ve given us the most incredible life…we definitely wouldn’t be here without them,” continued Hillary Scott. “Thanks for playing our songs and coming out to the shows…and just believing in us and our music.”

“Five nominations is absolutely unbelievable…wow!” concludes Charles Kelley. “I also want to give a shout-out to our all of our buddies who are having their moment right now too. Going on this ride with other artists who you can call your friends is just awesome!”

Blake Shelton-
“After 10 years of being in this business I finally began to tell myself that nominations don’t matter anyway…turns out that’s bull crap…Daddy likey!!!! Thanks to all!”

Little Big Town-
“This will be a week we never forget,” says Karen Fairchild, “and we owe that to the incredible fans, country radio, and our new label Capitol Records.” “We are so blessed to have our album debut at the top of the charts, and to have news of this nomination in the same week is just amazing,” adds Kimberly Schlapman

Dierks Bentley-
to quote the great cinematic masterpiece Tommy Boy, “that was…awesome!” hope my fans are as happy as i am. THX!

Easton Corbin-
Thanks everybody!!!!!!

Lady Antebellum Likes “Biscuits & Gravy”

Take a look at Lady Antebellum remaking Lee Brice’s “Love Like Crazy” into “Biscuits and Gravy.” The trio enjoys putting their own spin on other artists’ hits. The last time they created a remake was for Easton Corbin’s “A Little More Country than That” when they created “A Little More Preppy Than That.”

CMA Fest Day 3

Thanks to Chevy for sponsoring our trip to CMA Fest, CMTT is able to bring you all the scoop from the 2010 CMA Music Festival.  Saturday was day 3 of Nashville’s Biggest Party, and we decided to head on down to Fan Fair Hall.  Saturday was a big day in the Hall.  Rascal Flatts was signing for the first time in years along with a special short acoustic set.  Then we headed over to meet Mindy McCready.  She looked FANTASTIC!  I’m hoping she is indeed getting her act together, because I’d like to see her make a comback.

Saturday night at LP Field was also a doosey.  Easton Corbin made his LP Field debut, and what a fine job he did.  It was obvious that he was absolutely thrilled to be there, and the crowd appeared to love him!  Randy Houser also got everyone up on their feet with “Boots On” and “Anything Goes”…oh, and let’s not forget that contagious laugh. Billy Currington also performed, getting people pumped with his massive hit “People Are Crazy,” along with “Good at Drinking Beer,” “Don’t,” and “Must Be Doing Something Right.”

Last year, Zac Brown Band was a crowd favorite…keeping the stadium on their feet and excited the entire set.  However, this year…although they were good; Zac Brown Band failed to deliver quite the same reaction.  They opened strong with “Toes” but then failed to ever play “Chicken Fried” or their amazing cover of “The Devil Went Down to Georgia.”  Instead they opted for “Free” which is a beautiful song, but mixed with the other unknown song, failed to give-us the energy boost we needed to keep up in the heat.

My favorite of the night…and maybe possibly the weekend was Martina McBride. I seem to always forget how amazing she is.  Martina kicked-off the night with “Wrong Baby Wrong” then sang “This One’s for the Girls,” “Anyway,” “Broken Wing,” and “Independence Day.”  She got a MASSIVE standing ovation for “Broken Wing.” She never fails to produce chill bumps.

Rascal Flatts was the big deal of the evening.  Even though their set was interrupted with fireworks, the guys kept truckin on singing several  hits like “Life is a Highway,” “Here Comes Goodbye,” “Bob that Head,” and more.

Day 3 was a scorcher!  Litterally over 100 degrees, but fans still came out in droves to hear some great music and celebrate Nashville’s return!

Brad Paisley’s H2O World Tour Hits the Road this Weekend

Virginia Beach and Washington DC better watch out!  This weekend Brad Paisley is launching his highly anticipated H2O World Tour.   Don’t think Brad is coming alone.  He is bringing some of his friends with him; Darius Rucker, Justin Moore, Easton Corbin, Steel Magnolia and Josh Thompson.

Brad and his crew have spent the last few weeks trying to regroup from the Nashville Floods.  I’m sure you remember hearing that Brad lost most of his equipment in the flooding the day rehearsals for the tour were supposed to start.

In an article Brad wrote for the current issue of Billboard magazine. “When I finally walk out onstage in Virginia Beach, Va., on the first date of the H2O tour – no need to point out the irony, thank you – it will mean so much to all of us than any other tour we’ve ever done.  Or probably ever will.  I will stand up there more thankful than I’ve ever been for the people in the audience, the band at my back, the crew that makes it happen and the town I’ve never been prouder to represent,”

Log on to www.bradpaisley.com and www.livenation.com for on-sale and up to date information on H2O World Tour – dates to be added.

Easton Corbin’s “A Little More Country Than That” is #1

Easton Corbin climbs to the top of the charts this week garnering his first #1 single with “A Little More Country Than That”, which makes Easton the first country male solo artist to achieve that with a debut single since 2003. Easton will perform the single April 1st on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon which is also his first time performing on national television.

“A big thank you to country radio for believing in Easton and this song from the very beginning,” said Royce Risser, Senior Vice President of National Promotion. “A #1 for a new artist is uncommon, and for it to happen with a new artist’s first single is even more rare. Easton has given us a killer album and we can’t wait to release his next hit! Congratulations to the Mercury Nashville promotions department as well.”

Easton made his Grand Ole Opry debut this past Saturday night.

Jake Owen Mixes Twang and Heartbreak With New Single “Tell Me”

After releasing the bluesy “Don’t Think I Can’t Love You” and rockin’ “Eight Second Ride,” Jake Owen is showing us more of his country side with the twangy and pedal steel guitar-filled “Tell Me.” The song is the third single from his 2009 CD “Easy Does It.”

A dark, haunting tale of a man who just can’t let go of a cheating lover despite his broken heart, “Tell Me” features one of Jake’s strongest vocal performances and a nice touch of twang.

Jake says “Tell Me” is one of his favorites and calls it his “Bonanza song.”

“The intro to it really sets the mood,” he explains. “It’s got this dark, mysterious kind of sound to it. It starts out with kind of the John Wayne riding in on the open range, then you’ve got like the Bonanza thing in there.”

The song is already getting requests on country radio and has received positive feedback as Seattle radio station KMPS’s test track. You can listen to the track and vote at http://goo.gl/fb/TmVn

Jake will headline the Eagle Winter Blast in Hampton, Virginia, this Sunday with Steel Magnolia, Love and Theft, Mallary Hope, Lo Cash Cowboys and Easton Corbin. This spring with he’ll open several shows for Jason Aldean and then Sugarland, as well as at least one date with Miranda Lambert.

“Tell Me” is the third single from Jake’s second CD, “Easy Does It.” The first single, “Don’t Think I Can’t Love You,” went to #2 on the Billboard Top Country Chart. The last single, “8 Second Ride,” was a top-10 hit and spend 32 weeks on the Billboard chart.
