Billy Ray Cyrus and Son Go Paranormal

Looks like Billy Ray Cyrus likes to keep his TV shows in the family.

Billy Ray and his 21 year old son Trace will be staring in “UFO: Unbelievably Freakin’ Obvious” for cable network Syfy where they will investigate conspiracy theories.

“Our audience craves authentic, compelling and informative storytelling that pushes the boundaries of our normal world,” said Mark Stern, head of programing for the NBC Universal-owned network.

“Allegations of cover-up and conspiracy around unexplained phenomena has inspired heated debate for decades,” Stern said. “It will be interesting to see what truth Billy Ray and Trace may discover.”

Billy Ray says the existence of paranormal phenomena is something he has always wanted to explore and getting the opportunity to take this adventure with his son is a dream come true.

The Oak Ridge Boys, Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, & More Get ‘The Boots’ Catchiest Song Honors

The Boot has given The Oak Ridge Boys the honor of having the catchiest song in country music. The Catch: “Elvira, Elvira/My Heart’s on fire, Elvira/Giddy up, oom-poppa-oom-poppa-mow-mow”.

“When I opened up my AOL account, one of the headline stories for the day was about the 10 catchiest songs in country music history, I followed the link and started to read the top 10. I started at 10 and wondered what would be next as I scrolled down the page. I was thinking that we would not have a song on there, then at #1 was our huge hit Elvira. You could hear me screaming all the way from Oklahoma. Thanks to Dallas Frazier for writing such a song that bought us all a new house, and a new car,” says Oaks lead singer Duane Allen.

The Top 10 Catchy Songs in Country: (according to AOL “The Boot”)

1. Elvira / The Oak Ridge Boys
2. The Gambler / Kenny Rogers
3. You Belong With Me / Taylor Swift
4. Family Tradition / Hank Williams Jr.
5. Achy Breaky Heart / Billy Ray Cyrus
6. It’s Finally Friday / George Jones
7. Man! I Feel Like A Woman / Shania Twain
8. Dang Me / Roger Miller
9. How Do You Like Me Know? / Toby Keith
10. Undo It / Carrie Underwood

Billy Ray Cyrus Forms Rock Band Brother Clyde – Listen to “Lately”

We noticed Billy Ray Cyrus sporting a huge new arm sleeve tattoo at the recent Nashville Rising Benefit Concert.    Guess he wants to look the part with his new rock band Brother Clyde.

Brother Clyde includes Billy Ray, Samantha Maloney (Mötley Crüe, Hole, Eagles of Death Metal) and guitarist Jamie Miller (theSTART, Snot).

The band will be releasing their self-titled debut album on August 10th. The first single from Brother Clyde, “Lately,” is available now on iTunes.

Billy Ray says, “I always loved rock ‘n’ roll, that was a heavy part of what I was as a young juvenile delinquent. I tried from my first album to rock like any other Southern rock band.” Fate – and country music immortality – intervened, but for Brother Clyde, he followed an oh-so-rock-and-roll dictum: No rules. No limits. No preconceptions.

CLICK HERE to take a listen to “Lately” and then tell us what you think.

Billy Ray produced the album and co-wrote most of the songs. You can find out more about Brother Clyde on their MySpace page at: www.myspace.com/brotherclyde

Nashville Rising-Big Stars Come Out to Support Flood Relief

Last night was the much anticipated Nashville Rising Benefit concert to raise funds and awareness for Nashville Flood Relief. Tim McGraw and Faith Hill used their star power and called in the big guns, beckoning friends to lend their hands, voices, and talents for a concert to raise funds for the Nashville Rising Flood Concert.

The line-up was stellar, and eclectic enough to give everyone something to enjoy. I also have to give props to the crew and the band, The Dance Hall Doctors. No only were the set-changes seamless, but the band hung-out on stage for over 4 hours, playing along with all of the acts.

Each performer sang one or two hits, and Carrie Underwood kicked-off the night. Although everyone did an amazing job, there were several highlights of the night that got the sold-out crowd on their feet. The crowed errupted when Lynyrd Skynyrd sang “Sweet Home Alabama,” Miranda Lambert gave me a surprising case of chill-bumps from a phenomenal version of “The House that Built Me,” and Blake Shelton and Trace Adkins always rowdy-up the crowd with “Hillbilly Bone.” The crowd went nuts when ZZ Top came out to perform “Sharp Dressed Man.”

Surprises of the night….Trace Adkins showing up to perform with Blake, tons of video appearances from Reese Witherspoon, Dolly Parton, and Matthew McConaughey. America’s Sweetheart, Sandra Bullock also made a personal appearance. Looking stunning, and being her usual witty self, Sandra introduced Faith Hill to the stage, but not without a very poor attempt at playing “Smoke on the Water” first.

“Ok who am I kidding,” she said as she put down her instrument. “I can’t play for crap.”

Luke Bryan, Toby Keith, Jason Aldean, Taylor Swift, a very tattooed Billy Ray Cyrus, Martina McBride, Amy Grant, Michael W Smith, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, and Montgomery Gentry also performed.  Many guests shared their opinions about the lack of media coverage, but all showed pride in their Tennessee ties and roots.

Over all, the event was amazing. And, I’m sure when all is said and done the event will have raised between $2-3 Million for the Community Fund of Nashville.

You can see all of our pictures here.

Billy Ray Cyrus Really Was Cool Back in the Day

Take a look at these videos from 2006 of Billy Ray Cyrus rockin’ in out on stage with Metal Skool and Ryan Cabrera.   See Billy Ray really can be cool without his daughter around……  *not a video for small children. Beware of vulgar language and really bad mullet wigs.

Miley Cyrus Tells the Media to Butt Out

So I may get slammed by Tawny for this post because Miley Cyrus is not country BUT Miley’s achy breaky heart dad is certainly country and she is speaking out about his parenting style.

Miley has had her share of questionable moments. Like sharing a dance with a pole on the Teen Choice Awards and bending over backwards on a table while wearing leather during a photo shoot. But, she has a few thoughts for anyone who thinks Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus aren’t raising her right.

First of all, she says “trust the fact” that her parents are raising her “just like everyone else is raising their kids. They are doing it the way they want to.” And, second, she says “it is not for the media or for any one else to judge how they should or should not” raise her.

Should I butt out or should I comment.  Hmmmmmmmm.

Billy Ray Cyrus & Hellmann’s Sandwich Swap ‘n’ Share

Billy Ray Cyrus has teamed up with to launch the Hellmann’s Sandwich Swap ‘n’ Share program to help fight hunger. By visiting Hellmann’s page on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/hellmanns), people were able to create a virtual sandwich. For every sandwich created and every sandwich shared, Hellmann’s donated seven lunches to Feeding America. And the response was overwhelming. In a little more than a week, the campaign met its goal, donating 700,000 lunches to Feeding America.

They have also kicked off an eBay charity auction supporting Feeding America. The winning bidder will have the opportunity to swap a real life sandwich with Billy Ray Cyrus backstage just before his upcoming concert in Niceville, Florida. For additional information about the eBay charity auction, visit http://www.ebay.com/hellmanns.
