Nashville Music Garden- “Garden of the Stars”

NMG Logo

On September 29th, Nashville will become the home of the very first public garden to honor iconic entertainers.  The Nashville Music Garden will be located in the Hall of Fame Park.  The “Garden of the Stars” will pay tribute to artists, songwriters, authors, television personalities, industry leaders, venues, organizations, and icons who have positively impacted Nashville’s entertainment community.

The Nashville Music Garden will be home to over six dozen flowering plants baring the names such as Barbara Mandrell, Grand Ole Opry, Minnie Pearl, Pretty Woman, Purple Haze, Elivis, Ring of Fire, Tennessee Waltz, Alabama, Dolly Parton, Kiss an Angel Good Morning, Hank Williams, Reba McEntire, Amy Grant, and many more.

“I am thrilled to be a part of the Nashville Music Garden. There are plenty of eye-sores in the world. Thank goodness for people who fight back with flowers. God bless ‘em!” says Pam Tillis, another celebrated artist of the garden.

The dedication ceremony will be on Tuesday, September 29th at 10:30am. The star-studded event is expected to include Barbara Mandrell, Ralph Emery, Steve Holy, Little Jimmy Dickens, Jeffrey Steele, and the families of Patsy Cline, Hank Williams, and Minnie Pearl.

The free public event will give the first 500 guests long-stemmed Rio Roses and biscuits from the famed Loveless Cafe. Visit www.nashvillemusicgarden.com

Where is Everyone? Big promises broken- but the show must go on!

Glen Templeton as Conway Twitty
Glen Templeton as Conway Twitty

Sunday was TPAC’s big debut of Conway Twitty: The Musical.   Music City TV is reporting that big names were promised to be in the audience last night.   Names that we would all recognize:  Reba McIntryre, Barbara Mandrell, Luke Bryan and half of Montgomery Gentry.  Not one of them were there!

I have not personally seen the show, well because I didn’t show last night either but it doesn’t seem to be a story that will interest most.

Even though the big names were not present last night there were a few “stars” that did show:  Crystal Gayle, sister of Loretta Lynn (who is portrayed in the musical).  There were also a few Opry stars: Jeannie Seely, T.G. Sheppard, Bill Anderson, Jeff Bated and Mandy Barnett.

After seeing a few of the reviews from last nights opening show I not kicking myself in the butt for not attending.  It was only a one night show since they are moving it immediately out to Missouri.  They say that it will make it’s way back to Nashville but again….not gonna run out to see it. Don’t think anyone missed anything worth seeing.
