Carter Twins on a HOT HOT Day!

Saturday was the hottest day of the year so far for Tennessee.  The Country Music Marathon was a great success and to end the day runners, crew and fans were treated to an awesome concert.  The Carter Twins, Ashton Shepherd and Billy Currington.

The Carter Twins kicked of the show with a bang.  It was 30 minutes of great entertainment.  AND if you remember we told you that the Carter Twins have a surprise announcement coming up TONIGHT during their live chat.  Tawny and I think that the surprise may be the date that their debut album will drop.  We could be COMPLETELY wrong but if it is the surprise they may have told everyone a little bit of the secret Saturday night.  Their album will be dropping IN AUGUST!  Can’t wait!  It will include some of the songs that we got to hear them sing; “So What”, “Wish I Woulda Kissed Her”, “Amy Just Stay” (that they wrote with the members of Lady Antebellum), “Reinvent the Wheel” and of coarse our favorite so far “Heart Like Memphis”.

I promise you – if you go to a Carter Twins performance you will not be disappointed.  These two brothers may only be 19 years old but their stage presence says that they know what they are doing.  I have heard some people calling them the “Jonas Brothers of Country Music”.  Don’t underestimate these guys….they have way more talent than the Jonas Brothers.

Ashton Shepherd Keeping it Simple

Looks like Ashton Shepherd likes to keep her life and her home simple.  She still lives in a single-wide mobile home with her husband behind his parents’ house in Alabama.

Ashton’s husband, Roland, tells CMT.com that they could build “a $500,000 house, but the trailer is comfortable and easy to keep clean, and there’s no house payment.” Their home is surrounded by acres of tomatoes, collards, peas and corn.

Way to keep yourself grounded.

Tin Roof Music in the City Rocked It!

Tawny and I went to the Music in the City at the Tin Roof in Nashville last night.  The ENTIRE night was filled with amazing talent.  I was expecting to have a fun night but never did I imagine the talent that would be in the room.

We got to hear acoustic performances from The Carter Twins, Adam Gregory, Walker Hayes, Trent Tomlinson, Ashton Shepherd and Luke Bryan.   Jessica Andrews was supposed to be there but was not.

The Carter Twins were the first to take the stage and I was happily surprised with what I heard.   They are cute as a button and their harmony is amazing.  Ok, I know men don’t like to be called “cute as a button” but they are!!!  LOL  – I think it’s the mom coming out of me – they are 18 and have a whole life of talent to look forward to.  They have a new single hitting the radio on Monday called Heart like Memphis.  Check it out on their MySpace page.

Adam Gregory hit the stage next.  I know a lot of people have been talking about him but I was not familiar with his music until last night.  He definitely has a soulfulness to his music that I really like.  And he is one of the nicest artists that I have met.  He took his time to talk with all of his fans after his set last night.  He is touring right now so check out his schedule on his MySpace page and catch a show if he comes close to you.

Walker Hayes is new newest artist to sign with Capitol Records and I can’t wait to hear more from him.  He is funny, good looking and can sing!  He is the whole package.  Tawny REALLY liked Walker.  I will let her update you about him later….  Check out his MySpace to hear his music.

Trent Tomlinson ran on stage and then ran off.  I really like his music and usually he is a great performer but I feel like he was rushed last night.  I think he sang 3 songs and then he disappeared.

Ashton Shepherd came on next and you could tell that the crowd was full of fans.  She had a strong voice and is very like able.  She is one of those girls that other girls look at and say – “I could be friends with her.”  Her Alabama roots made her the “most country” person in the room according to Luke Bryan.  Takin Off this Pain was my favorite song from her last night.  “Girl Power” rocks!

So Luke Bryan was last on stage and boy was it worth the wait.  I already knew that Luke Bryan was a great performer but last night rocked my socks off.  No set list, sang by the seat of his pants – literally.  He is SO much fun.  I good ol’ country boy.  Everybody in the Tin Roof was on there feet singing and dancing.  If you have not already seen Luke live YOU HAVE TO!!!!!  You will fall in love with his charm and humor.   After signing an autograph for Tawny he told us that he would be back for a picture but unfortunately the crowd was a little rowdy and he left to the private quarters next door.

Overall the night was fantastic.  I was proud to be a country music fan and am so excited to see what these new artists are going to do.  You can see more pictures from the night on our MySpace page.  www.myspace.com/countrymusictattletale

Tawny has more pictures to share to – she will get them up later today or tomorrow.

I had to add our picture with Lance Smith to the mix.  He was the host for the night and was a lot of fun.  He signed an autograph for me with Dr’s orders : )
