NARM [National Association of Recording Merchandisers] will honor Taylor Swift, Big Machine Records, with our Artist Of The Year Award during the Awards Dinner Finale at the 2010 Convention. This past year, she became the youngest artist ever to win both the CMA Entertainer of the Year and the Grammy Award for Album of the Year (and the first female solo Country artist ever to win the Grammy honor). Her 2009 release, “Fearless,” reached double-Platinum in just four weeks and was also voted 2009’s Album of the Year by both the Country Music Association and the Academy of Country Music. She is the top-selling digital artist in music history and had the No. 1 best-selling album in any genre of music in both 2009 and 2008. Her career record sales have already topped 13 million.

For a girl who can’t sing…makes you wonder. Plus, I hate hearing about her being country when everyone knows she remixes her songs for pop and that is the only reason she is selling.
I agree she can’t sing, she sells to the teeny boopers, could not believe she was made entertainer of the year, what a joke!
She has a terrible, weak voice and she can’t sing her way out of a wet paper bag. For the life of me, I can’t understand how she got entertainer of the year. Very disappointing.
If she just sells to teeny boopers, why Justin Bieber, the Jonas Brothers and Miley Cyrus haven’t won a grammy too?
Why is Taylor being honored for “Artist Of The Year” when the majority of her major accomplishments were in 2009? Give her this award if she earns it from THIS year’s accomplishments.
Taylor is a talented writer, and seems like a humble girl, but I’m getting so tired of the media oversationalizing everything she does. C’mon. Even Carrie, Rascal Flatts, and Lady A didn’t get this much exposure at their heights. I really think the only reason she gets so much media attention is because the media is playing on the fact that most of her fans listen to pop and don’t care if she is a country artist. I wouldn’t believe her sucess is really benefiting the genre, either. Her fans who dislike country music can listen to her on pop radio, buy her pop remixes and albums.
Taylor doesn’t seem to know (or care) much about the history of country music, and doesn’t even cite many of its artists as influences on her music. I don’t particularly have a problem with her pop-country sound, but she changes her songs to the point of making them unrecognizabe. So country songs aren’t “good enough” for the pop snobs, eh?
Taylor has a medicore voice and has an underdeveloped writing talent. It baffles me that she gets all the exposure thrown at her when she has more growing to do than 90% of her peers. So her artistic immaturity is suddenly justification to reward her as the “best of the best?
It makes me sick that country artists who don’t change themselves to fit the mainstream image are being indirectly told that they aren’t good enough to garner exposure. The media is sending this industry a disgusting message, and Taylor is niave to go along with it.
It makes you wonder who votes on these things. What a shame not to look at artists who can actually sing and can carry a tune. Kanye is gone and so should the “poor” little girl that got scared by that mean old man!! Come on-Taylor needs to be a distant memory-she cannot sing country nor pop. She is tone deaf and needs the help of the studio for her to sound on key. Please enough of Taylor-I am sure Stevie Nicks is saying the same thing.
What an insult to REAl talented artists, like Little Big Town! To be rewarded because you can’t sing is a disgrace and she is about as country as Def Leppard. Oh, wait, that’s right, she sang with Def Leppard. Enough said. I can’t wait until she is ‘over’ and Nashville can get back to REAL talented artists
I heard an Entertainment Reporter on my radio station this morning saying that the most honored album in history is Fearless by Taylor Swift. He said people will be scratching their heads over that one for years to come!! I’ve scratched mine from the very beginning of her overexposed career and wondered what were the industry people thinking. I bet some of them are thinking the same thing too, now!! Especially after all her horrible live performances.
how could you talk bad about talor swift.
