Taylor Swift Proves It’s Hard to Win (and hold on to) Four Grammys

Many of the online blogs have been reporting the Taylor Swift and Stevie Nicks performance at the Grammys was the biggest flub of the night but according to Yahoo Entertainment Taylor managed to out do herself  by accidentally dropping one of her Grammy Awards.

While attempting to pose with all four of her awards for photographers backstage, Taylor dropped one of them.  Luckily the Grammy was fine and no harm was done.    I wonder if Beyonce or Lady Gaga were standing anywhere near Taylor when it happened????

Well, those Grammy’s the stars are holding aren’t their actual Grammy’s. They are fake/photo-op Grammy’s. The stars get their actual awards sent to them a few months after all engraved and personalized. So no fear on her part. It happens. I remember a few years ago it happening to Norah Jones when she won her truckload of them.

Taylor did not win her awards for her vocals!!!! Because she does not have any! You can make any one sound good in a studio. She can continue to write her love songs for the 10, 11, 12, and 13 year olds but let someone else sign them. So over rated…Since her parents have money it makes you wonder how much they are paying to get her off key daughter live performances and awards!

I’ve read reports that the grammy she dropped shattered. It’s too bad there can’t be one story – the truth. Because you just never really know. Her performance was terrible. A singer should be able to sing – isn’t that the whole point??!!! Everyone says Taylor is a good songwriter – she should be a songwriter and leave the actually singing to people who can carry a tune. It’s a slap in the face to real entertainers who work hard and have lost awards because people ‘feel’ bad for Taylor. When you’re in this business there will always be people who disagree with you, don’t like you, etc. If she can’t handle it…get out of the singing end of the business Taylor. Write your songs and let others sing them. (Beyonce was able to hold 6 awards.)

    Amen to Sbart855′s comment!

When she was singing I kept praying for it to be over but it seemed like it went on and on forever. Sorry but she can’t sing, I don’t know but I sure thought that if you are billed as a singer you should be able to carry a darn tune. Sure she can write but heck writing does not a singer make.
And please enough with the hand over the mouth and saying OMG, I am half expecting her to pull a Sally Field and say, “you like me, you really, really like me” At that poinit I am throwing something at my TV. My TV should not have to suffer.

  6. Grammy lower its standards. says:

Taylor can’t sing. Every live performance from her is bad. Disappointed with Grammy for awarding her female vocalist when many others are so much better. I was already disappointed with CMA and AMA for awarding her the female vocalist because she cannot sing and I thought for Grammy, it will be based on talent but said to say the standard from Grammy is also lower. I hope coming ACM can do a better job.

WOW! Lots of Taylor hating here. It’s amazing to me how hard you can hit someone when you are hiding behind your computer. I wonder how many of you haters own Taylor’s album because from the looks of the numbers she out sold everyone else in country music in 2009. Like her voice or not I bet at least one of you bashers own the album. Quit being hateful it’s not pretty…..

I lost all respect for Taylor after the Grammy’s. How can she feel like she deserves those awards when she’s sitting talent so much broader than her own? She embarassed me as a country fan, and I will no longer support anything she does. She is a great role model and individual, but I want artists who are rewarded for inovative and creative art- not someone who can get away with atrocious live vocals and sub-par talent and win the most prestigious award in music.

It was announced today that the Grammy’s were going to make available all the performances for download except for Taylor Swift’s performance. It was probably the first time any of those Grammy officials had heard her sing live…I am sure that they are regretting giving her all the awards that they did now that they know that she cannot sing LIVE…she sings flat and off key! The music business credibility has been hurt badly because of this fiasco. And by the way, to Taylor’s manager, who said that they were going to have her lay low in Australia so she could rest and work on her voice. First of all, touring is not restful and all the singing in the world cannot make a person who does not have natural talent a top notch singer.

  10. Deborah says:

First off, your article is wrong saying that no harm was done to the award. Its broke in 2 pieces. Secondly, I like Taylor’s music and I am a 40 yr old female, not a teenager or pre-teen but I know a good vocalist and she is NOT a good singer. The gal cannot carry a tune. She always goes from high to low and back to high notes. And you always hear her breathing and taking deep breaths; a sign of a bad singer. As a songwriter yes she is amazing but how can she win when it comes to voices like Carrie (whom I cannot stand but cannot deny that voice), Martina and Reba! These women know how to sing. Taylor is just the “it” person of the moment and its pathetic that you get awards for just being popular. And I personally am sick of her “OMG, I won…I am so shocked” looks everytime her name is called. On her 1st award it was cute but after all the awards, it’s getting old and I am soooo over it!

  11. Country Girl says:

Deborah, it wasn’t the actual Grammy Award that she will display at home. Those are mailed to the artists later. AGREE… Nope, not the best singer or vocalist. But why get mad at Taylor. What was she supposed to do get up there and say “I’m sorry I can’t accept these Grammy Awards, I can’t sing very well”. Get mad at the people who voted to give her the award. These people voted to give her the award because she sold millions of records, sold out live concerts in record time and has a HELLVA year. The FANS MADE MOST OF THAT POSSIBLE. If you don’t like her don’t buy her albums and don’t go to her live show. When enough people and fans don’t do that anymore she will have to go away. BUT DON’T blame Taylor for doing what she loves to do while millions of fans still love her for doing it.

  12. Howard Eason says:

Too bad some people are taking shots at Taylor. She is a real star who will be around for years to come.

  13. Vance says:

What a joke. 99% of the world can sing circles around Taylor Swift. She also has no humility and is just calculating. She mentions the exact same thing every time.
