Keith Urban is used to playing on stage, but while on his Australian leg of his Escape Together World tour, Keith also played ‘secret santa.’ While visiting a music store, Tym Guitars, with his band Keith gave a special gift to a young boy. The band spent over an hour trying out some bevy guitars, all the while a young boy was playing with a fuzz (guitar effects) pedal.
Keith settled on a $1400 Maton guitar and whispers to Tym Brennan.
“How much is the pedal that kid’s playing?”
“$450,” Brennan says.
Urban: “Put it on my card with the guitar.”
Tym: “Do you want me to tell the kid?”
Urban: “Wait till I leave.”
Brennan recounts: “Keith pays, then on the way out, shakes the youth’s hand and says, “Merry Christmas”.
“Was that Keith Urban? He said ‘Merry Christmas’ to me,” the kid beams.
“Yeah,” says Brennan, “He just bought you that pedal.”
The kid was so “blown away” he was shaking, Brennan tells us.
Gotta love the Christmas spirit being spread, and it doesn’t hurt when it comes from a dashing Aussie crooner either.

Very touching…..Keith has a great heart!!! Merry Christmas!!!
That’s amazing! Gotta love Keith!
Keith is a very generous, sharing person. He has stated many times his encouragement and support of youngsters playing guitar (or other musical instruments). What a fine way to show support for a future guitar player.
He is so caring about and giving to others. AWESOME AUSSIE.
This is an awesome and heartwarming story; perfect for the approching holidays. Keith is so talented, and he seems like a generous, caring person. I bet he made that boy’s holiday and more.
This is the kind of story he’d have wanted kept quiet.
