This past Saturday Keith Urban performed a live acoustic set for eager fans in Pasadena, California. It was a free concert promoted by Verizon Wireless and Go Country 105. The parking lot behind the store was sectioned off for devoted fans who showed up at the wee hours of the morning hoping to meet Keith before the show. They expected a decent turnout but more than 1,000 people showed up for the event. Photographers were everywhere and Verizon was enthusiastically giving away meet and greet passes before the show started.

Once the show started Keith asked the fans what songs they wanted to hear and after a loud muffled cry of several hits he said ‘maybe that was a bad idea.’ Keith Urban staff members passed around a mic for fans to say hello, profess they’re undying love, and request songs. There was a moment when Keith brought a trendy dressed 3 year old on stage to directly ask Keith a question. She stuttered out ‘will you pwease pway kiss the gwirl.’ It was heart-melting and Keith gladly belted out the summer hit.

A few songs later a young man named Corey said to Keith that he was his idol and he had always dreamed of playing with him before he retired. Keith laughed and responded ‘before I retire or you die, right? Well I’m not retiring anytime soon so what did you want to play?’ The young man said he brought his guitar and wanted to play ‘Days Go By’. Keith invited him onstage and they jammed together to an excited crowd.
The whole show was very personal and geared just for the fans. Keith said numerous times that he was so thankful so many people showed up to see him in a parking lot. It was a humble side of Keith that I’m sure plenty of fans, including myself, will never forget!!
