In the recent world of country music it’s never a shock to hear about an artist is going to attempt to cross over and take advantage of our awesome fans. Just announced today, inde artist and brother of Lady A’s Charles Kelley, Josh Kelley is debuting his very first country song “Gone Like That”.
Via his twitter Josh says a full country album is to follow in 2010.
The Georgia native has signed with Universal Music Nashville on the strength of some demos he cut for other artists, and hopes to release a soul-flavored country music debut early next year. “Country is where I’m going to live out the rest of my career, Josh tells EW. “This is the style and level of songwriting that I’ve always wanted. I’m coming home.”
Josh goes on to tell EW that Charles was his main influence for crossing over.
“Charles is the main person that convinced me [to go country],” Kelley says. “And if Charles says something — all 6’7” of him — you really do listen. He wears a damn song out if he likes it. And when I sent him ‘Gone Like That,’ he said he listened to it every day, all day long.”
Head over to Entertainment Weekly’s website to hear a clip of Josh’s new song and let us know what you think.

In case you didn’t understand the title….Josh Kelley is married to TV and movie star actress Katherine Heigl. You have to wonder if the couple plans to move to Nashville to raise their new baby girl and move his country career forward.
