Gov. Phil Bredesen appeared on the Public Square in Franklin, TN Tuesday to announce the launch of Discover Tennessee Trails and Byways with the debut of the Old Tennessee Trail.
The trail starts in Franklin and loops through Western Williamson and Maury Counties via Leiper’s Fork, Mount Pleasant, Columbia, Spring Hill and Thompson’s Station, with side trips to Nashville.
Commissioner Susan Whitaker, Department of Tourist Development, said that Rascal Flatts would be lending their voices and support to the project as part of the marketing campaign, with TV spots using the group’s hit song “Life is a Highway,” to help brand the campaign.
Whitaker said the trails helped promote the Tennessee brands of scenic countryside and music, along with their lessons on Tennessee history and life styles.
