CMA Awards

CMT recently wrapped-up a poll, asking fans who they thought would take home various CMA Awards on November 11th…Well, BIG surprise, Taylor Swift apparently has it ‘in the bag.’  Ok, nobody is surprised.  Here are the winners according to the CMT poll.

1) Entertainer of the Year – Taylor Swift
2) Album of the Year – Taylor Swift’s Fearless
3) Song of the Year – Carrie Underwood’s “I Told You So” written by Randy Travis
4) Female Vocalist of the Year – Taylor Swift
5) Male Vocalist of the Year – George Strait
6) Vocal Group of the Year – Rascal Flatts
7) Vocal Duo of the Year – Brooks & Dunn
Do you agree? I don’t mean…who do you WANT to win…I mean who do you THINK WILL WIN. That’s two VERY different things. I am surprised Keith Urban didn’t make the list somewhere…surly he can beat someone out of one of these awards. Here’s my opinion, as if any of you care…

EOTY-Taylor Swift or Kenny Chesney (he won’t be eligible next year due to his “hiatus” so it may get a pitty vote)
Album-Taylor Swift
Song- I have no earthly idea
Female vocalist-Carrie Underwood
Male Vocalist-Brad Paisley (though I’m pullin for Keith)
Group-Rascal Flatts
Duo-Brooks & Dunn

I do wonder who the heck voted that Taylor will win female vocalist over the amazing singers in the category.  I really like Taylor, but she doesn’t (or shouldn’t) stand a chance in that category.

I cannot believe Taylor Swift as EOTY. My gosh, she has a great publicist, but her singing is pathetic. Keith Urban should definitely be EOTY. His concerts are spectacular—– the epitomy of what an entertainer is. It will be a sham if Taylor Swift wins EOTy. It will be a travesty if Keith Urban does not win.

Why would Carrie Underwood be female vocalist of the year when she has taken a year off to record her album? She hasn’t performed anywhere. What qualifies her?

If Taylor wins anything it better not be any vocalist awards. While she more than deserves an entertainer and album nomination, the girl will NEVER be a vocalist. Carrie has not been completely inactive this year, and she could still easily take this award. She made a few select apperances, was inducted into the Oaklahoma Music Hall Of Fame and she started a charity. Considering she has again been chosen to host the CMA’s, despite a low-profile, I would assume that the CMA’s will continue throwing awards her way. The few live apperances she did make all sold out, and she did many Opry apperances, along with one for Breast Cancer Awarness. Taylor has been successful, but she is not an abassador for country the way Carrie has. Considering how much the voters love her, she’s still got this award in the bag.

If Taylor Swift wind EOTY, I give up. The TV in my house won’t be safe. I’ll probably put my foot through it. She has turned into nothing but an over-hyped POP star wanna be. And she is a lousy vocalist. After seeing her live, my opinion of her actually dropped 100%. Her “sincerity” was nothing but staged theatrics. After seeing 4 out of the 5 nominees this year, my vote on who I think SHOULD win is Keith Urban. And I would love for another group to take it over Rascal Flatts.

Tawny–I agree with you on some of the awards. I would love Randy Travis to win for I Told You So–and Carrie to get Song of The Year for it also. Carrie for female vocalist.Taylor for female vocalist–almost makes me sick to have her in that catagory with the other females. She may be a nice girl–but she definately CAN NOT sing. Her tween fans keep her in the lead by voting for her. I hope the academy chooses well and deserving artists. Brad or Keith for ETOTY.

Keith Urban deserves EOTY..no question! I so agree with Rachel and Louise! I will be through with award shows and country music (except Keith) if Taylor wins EOTY. I saw her choreographed show and it was not a country concert by any means with absolutely no sponteniety whatsoever! All planned and rehearsed, right down to her costume changes and head slinging. The guy from the Boston newspaper had her pegged from the start. A young girl playing grown up on stage. He went onto say that she should be learning for Keith Urban what an entertainer is. She may be raking in the dough from all these young teens she’s gotten to follow her from the internet and she may be the “it” thing right now and the darling of Nashville, but that doesn’t make her entertainer worthy….IMO!

Please not TS for EOTY. Give her album for her amassing trillions if you need to; although Jamey Johnson deserves Album for In Color.
I hope this is an upset category and george Strait walks away with EOTY.
Male Vocalist – George Strait all the way (if he doesn’t win EOTY); Troubadour for video. George has had a very successful year too with Twang; Artist of the Decade; grammy win for Troubadour; etc. Great concerts.
