Directly from MusicRow.com:
Rascal Flatts was already the largest selling and grossing group in country music history, and now the band just sold its four millionth concert ticket in a span of four years.
Also just announced, the band’s latest album for Lyric Street, Unstoppable, has been certified Platinum for shipments in excess of 1 million. The CD was the group’s fourth consecutive studio album to open at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 chart, more than any other country artist in the history on Soundscan. This brings Rascal Flatts’ career album sales to 20 million units in this decade. The band has also amassed 10.5 million paid digital downloads.

This should be more than enough reason for Rascal Flatts to be Entertainer of the Year at the CMA’s.
Take that Tawny and lioness!
I could give a rats butt if they sell a bazillion tickets…i still don’t like em! LOL But, they need to go ahead an prepare for Taylor Swift to outsell em in no time…I say by the years end. LOL
Twany: Regardless of whether Taylor does outsell them by the end of the year, they STILL broke the record first. She sold out Madison Square Garden, they sold it out for three years, and still beat her. She had the biggest selling record of the year? They have had several. They write more songs than she does that are not about immature puppy-love. This girl has all young fans, is played on pop stations, and has only been around for three years. She will fade out once her young fans grow up. If her songwriting and performing skills don’t mature neither will her audience. All the boybands of the 90′s were huge, right? They faded into nothing once they had famlies and started recording different material. The same thing will happen to Taylor in a few years, mark my words!
K-That may be true…but I do believe Taylor will shatter most records before she burns out….But wait…boy bands?! LIke, you mean…NKOTB?! ?! OMG OMG I LOVE THEM!!!! Oh wait, didn’t they just wrap up their 2nd leg of their sold-out tour…oh wait…aren’t they middle aged men?! Oh wait…didn’t their tween fans grow-up and stand out line for hours, paying $100′s of dollars to watch their former boy-toys shake it like grown men?! Oh yes I did…I mean..they…LOL Caution K….even tweens grow-up and spend their hard earned money…
Tawny you need to give yourself a bit of a reality check. Although YOU may not like the guys you have to admit that the words: “largest selling and grossing group in country music HISTORY” has to MEAN something. Give them the credit that they deserve in that respect. It has to mean SOMETHING. This means that they have done better than ALL of your favorite artists in country music.
They are famous…they are popular…I don’t have to understand why…LOL
If this doesn’t open the eyes of the cma board and give the guys the nom and the win for EOTY then what will.
i honestly don’t think any of this has anything to do with EOTY…seriously….that’s why the wrong people keep winning…Although, if certain people keep treating their fans like crap, it may open the door for someone new.
Congrats, to Rascal Flatts! They are some of the hardest working guys in the business. Not to mention the NICEST and most down to earth. They deserve so much more than Vocal Group of the year.
First of all, a HUGE congrats to the guys! This latest honor just proves that any artist can be successful, regardless of awards or words of critics. They continue to defy every stereotype that was put out about them, and I say BRAVO. They KNOW and appreciate every single person who has helped them over the years. They go above and beyond for the fans, remain commitmented to their famlies, and make the music they want to make. They remain true to their roots, which is so refreshing to see in this self-obbsssessed industry. All of that is enough for this LIFETIME FAN!! Twany: LOL on the NKOTB comment. BUT what I meant is that Taylor is young and writes songs for a young audience. If she continues in that vein she won’t be popular for very long. It only takes ONE failed song or album to make or break an artist, and Taylor is no exception. Look at James Otto or Jessica Andrews and example; Two artists who had huge hits then fell off the map completly. Taylor is still in the begining of her career, so any wrong move could jeapordize her success; only established artists get forgivness from fans, and Taylor has not been around long enough for this to happen.
