All I have to say is WHAT A PRICK! Kenny Chesney has a BIG problem with cameras at his shows. We told you back in May that Kenny had made a few changes to policies allowing you to only take still photos at his concerts. If you were caught taking a video you were subject to having it taken away.
Well, when Kenny saw a fan in the front row with a camera he took matters into his own hands. According to Boston News Channel 5, fan Susan Mazar was sitting in the front row taking photos when Kenny grabbed it from her and threw it down stage.
“(Chesney) was like a person in front of me and he reached down, grabs the camera, shuts it, goes down the walkway and throws it on the stage,” Mazar said.
Mazar said she did get the camera back, but the memory card, loaded with pictures of her family vacation, was missing.
Video cameras are on the list of banned items at Gillette Stadium. Mazar told NewsCenter 5 that she was taking still pictures only of the show, not video.
You can visit Boston News Channel 5 website to see an interview with the fan.
There are SO MANY things wrong with this situation that I don’t even know where to begin. Let us know what you think.

I was at a Kenny concert in Maryland a few months back and they checked bags and wouldn’t let anyone in with a camera that took any videos. They gave everyone the opportunity to put their camera back in the car.
To be in the front row of a show with something that shouldn’t be there is the woman’s fault in the first place. I give Kenny a lot of credit for standing up for protecting himself. She’s lucky she got the camera back. If she’s that upset over losing family vacation pics, she should have downloaded them before she came to the show. These were rules of the stadium as well as the promoters. Kenny has been saying for months not to bring them. It’s incident’s like this that’s going to lead to Kenny stopping all cameras and that’s not fair to the rest of us who obeyed the rules. It seems everyone seems to feel sorry for this woman who broke the rules!!!! If you want to play with fire you have to remember sometimes you get burned. Give Kenny a break here. We haven’t heard Kenny’s side of the story yet…..
Give Kenny a break??? For what?? Oh, that’s right…he”s a famous musician who makes millions of dollars, so he can treat anyone the way HE wants, right??
NOT. Sure, the woman brought in a camcorder, and took videos while sitting in the front row, which was a dumb move that showed a serious lapse in common sense. That gives Kenny NO RIGHT to destruct this woman’s personal property, even if she did bend the rules. If this woman took Kenny’s guitar from him and smashed IT on the ground, she would be aressted! It doesn’t matter if Kenny was having the worst day of his life, it’s still his JOB to go out there and give it 100% every night. What ticks me off the most is that Kenny claims to “love” his fans, and says he gives everything to them…he gets the Entertainer of The Year” Award because he treats the people who employ him like #$!!!. Something is NOT right here.
Kenny did the same thing security would have done. why is he such a bad guy for doing security’s job? the woman was stupid for bringing it in the first place. what should he have done? stopped the show and confront her in front of everyone? Kenny was awesome to the fans in Central Park last week. He talked to everyone, and answered everyone’s question, this was 7 in the morning after doing a show the night before a few hours away. He was nice to everyone and let everyone take pictures, I didn’t see anyone bring in a video camera. He has been awesome every time I’ve seen him and I will see him again regardless of all everyone is saying about him. Would you all be reacting this way if it was security who took her camera? Whether is was Kenny or security, the outcome would still be the same, she’d be going home without a memory card.
Kenny Chesney and whoever has that memory card are thieves. Just because they decide on a policy doesn’t give then the right to break the laws against theft.

K!!! Guess what?! You and I agree!!!! LOL Oh and Kathy, if you aren’t allowed to bring any camera in that takes video…then you can’t bring any camera in!!! That’s just Kenny’s fancy way of getting away with banning cameras. ALL!!! Cameras take vide now…with the exception of some SLR’s which usually aren’t allowed in concerts anyway cuz they are considered “professional.” So, it seems to me that he really doesn’t want any media taken of him at all…pictures or otherwise. And, I can promise you, security wouldn’t have snatched her camera and tossed it across the stage…They would have confinscated it until the end of the show…then at the end, they probably would have sat and watched her delete everything. She would have been able to reason her way out of them keeping her memory card….
I had seen that you called Kenny a ‘prick’ and I rarely defend Kenny but in this case I am.
She was videotaping. Not only did Erin at countrymusicislove see it, but 2 of my friends in the sandbar. There IS a policy with Gillette NO videotaping. Kenny has ALSO made it abundantly clear that there is NO videotaping.,
This lady just wants her 15 minutes of fame but bottom line she is in the wrong………she is just pissed ’cause she got caught!!
You guys are making a mountain out of a molehill.
I’ve met the guy he was nothing but nice and cool. She is mad cause she was videotaping she should have not brought the camera in the first place and this would not have happened.
Sometimes security does not do there job. Its copyright issues.
NO MATTER WHAT – - – NO ONE HAS THE RIGHT TO PUT THEIR HANDS ON THE PROPERTY OF ANOTHER. Even though she broke the rules, she should have been asked to leave the premises. People get arrested and charges filed against them everyday for doing things of this nature. If Kenny expects others to follow his rules then he should also follow the rules. You DO NOT take personal property from someone. You have them delete the items that were taken and then ask them to leave. Sorry, he deserves all of the bad publicity that he is getting for this. He was wrong and unprofessional and I hope that someone gets the chance to talk to him about this. I would really love to hear his take on this.
Kenny you are an complete A-Hole!!!! I’ve seen Kenny live 3 times and 2 of those times from the sandbar. Each time I saw him I went for the opening acts, why does Kenny “Sell Out” stadiums, well it’s because he has amazing openers and for each stadium show I went to they put tickets on sale for $10 the day of the show. Every show that I went to I left EARLY because I just couldn’t handle the drunkenness of everyone around me. Did I take a camera HELL YES but did I waste any of my precious memory on Kenny Hell No!!!! I would rather waste it on taking pictures of the ground or car tires those are much more important. Kenny get over yourself you are NOT God and you aren’t as amazing as you think you are.
” At the recent KU concert at the Indiana State Fair security surrounded a young woman during Jason Aldean’s set, trying to remove her and take her camera because she was shooting video. The order came from one of Aldean’s people”
I don’t think the order would have come from one of JA’s people. I have seen him many times, twice last week with Keith and have been very obvious that I was taking video. Jason didnt seem to care. Probably some stupid security that didnt listen to Keith’s orders that he doesn’t mind video being taken at his concerts!
And seriously, if you are in the first few rows, what can you do with the video anyhow?? The sound is always crappy because you are right near the speakers!
THE RULES SAY NO VIDEO CAMERAS—–MAYBE HE WAS A LITTLE HASTY IN TAKING IT FROM HER. HE SHOULD TAKE HIS PIX OFF THE CARD AND MAIL HER MEMORY CARD BACK TO HER. SAID AND DONE—-SHE BROKE THE RULES. I WAS AT THAT CONCERT AND KNEW NOT TO BRING A VIDEO CAMERA.
I have gone to many concerts and have taken tons of still photos and even video if permitted. These pictures are to help me remember the event and in most cases the artist are more than willing to allow the pictures. As a fan I would never dream of selling these photos. I get that some venues have no video and even sometimes no still photography policies. But I think that as an artist Kenny Chesney has gone to far. Yes he is listed as one of the most popular artists in country music. Yes, he is one of the top touring acts. And yes, he has worked hard to get where he is. I don’t dispute those things. However, there are a lot of artist that work just as hard or harder and don’t achieve the level that he has. I personally would not pay to go see him. I feel like some of these artists forget that the only reason they are as successfull as they are is because of their fans. Without fans buying the albums, and buying concert tickets and merchandise they would be just a guy singing in a bar. I would much rather go see someone who is going to appreciate their fans as much as the fans appreciate them .
It’s a copy right issue for the song writers . The point is she was caught by Kenny making her own personal videos and now shes mad I do agree maybe he should of told security but the stadium and Kenny both have a no video recorders allowed policy. Kenny is not the only one to have this policy Kieth Urban, Dierks Bentley, Tim & Faith, Brad Paisley just to name a few. I always had my bags checked before going in.
LOL, Twany. YES we agree! What Kenny did was inexcusable, rude, and arrogant; it’s security’s job to take care of that, and it’s Kenny’s job to sing. He should be aressted for theft if the memory card was not given back. Kenny is just another average bar singer, hardly ever writes his songs, and his concerts are drunfests. Why is he so great??
I don’t give a flying crap whether she broke the rules are not…the rule alone is my problem in the first place. What on earth is ANYONE going to do with pictures they take at a show or videos? Like it was mentioned before, it’s not like the fans are gonna sell them. They’re just something to look back on & relive the show. I have never understood (and probably never will) why some artists have a problem with cameras. Their faces are all over the media anyway…who the hell cares if someone takes some pictures/videos of you performing? It makes absolutely NO sense whatsoever. Nothing bad is going to come of it. If he did something stupid or embarrassed himself, it’s gonna get around anyway whether people have pics/videos or not. When you’re playing shows in front of 60,000 people a night, you can’t really hide from anything.
The whole video policy is so unreasonable…songwriters rights? Have these people actually seen the videos taken at concerts?! They are usually pretty crappy at best. If someone wants to pay for one, they are an idiot. But this is about Kenny taking on a role that he shouldn’t have taken on…
when you assholes learn that everyone has bad days, if you ask someone nicly not to do something and they do it and do it and do it, you will get pissy too. grow up
He should be grateful that people are even going to his shows after acting like that what a douche bag.
It’s not confiscation, It’s THEFT!!. Legally, they can’t even force her to delete those videos and photos . Those are her property, too. All anyone can legally do is ask her to leave. If she refused, then they should call the police on a trespasser.
On private property, the property owner’s only recourse is to ask an unwanted person to leave. Security guards, rent-a-cops, and musicians have no law enforcement authority or right to confiscate anyone eleses private property. That would be a civil matter.
Okay so I know a few people who were there, Kenny did not just grab the camera from the fan, he motioned for her to hand it to him and then took it. One, it’s not just Kenny’s rule for no video cameras/video recordings, it was also GILETTE STADIUM’S rule. I know that my Amp has the same rule. This lady is all of a sudden making it out that Kenny was rude about it, he wasn’t. And this isn’t even a new rule. Maybe he doesn’t want Live footage this year especially because he’s planning on doing a 3-D concert. He’s not the only artist that has the no video rule. A lot of others have it too.
And, the lady turned to the people around her and went “I’ll just take video with my phone.” Clearly, she was going to break the rules no matter what.
Maybe they should start with the security and check their cell phones. I’ve watch security at Kenny’s Indy concert last year taking videos and no one said a thing about. I pay for my ticket and can’t video but they get paid to be there and are spending more time taking pictures and videoing them then watching the drunks that are out of control.
Gosh, you NEVER hear about Jimmy Buffett doing something like this. I guess I’ve been wrong in saying he’s copying eveything from JB.
My two cents on the matter – ticks me off when my old fashioned 35mm camera is not allowed to a show simply because the lens can be removed. The staff at FMBA initially would not allow me to bring it in and I had a m&g with Dierks. Finally a female staffer felt bad for me and allowed it. During that show numerous people around me whipped out their digitals and cell phones and videoed most of the show. Cameras were not allowed and she should have been told about it – not have the camera manhandled. They basically “stole” part of the camera. She should file a police report. (Keith Urbans people used to be major bullies about pics and video when he was transitioning from Fair shows to bigger venues. It appears they have softened a bit!)
I used to be a huge fan of KC. But not he has the big head. He thinks he can sale tickets at outragous prices and only play stadium shows….what a looser. well Ithink it is awful what he did to this lady. and really what kind of person would have a ban so strick? I went to see Jonas Brothers last night with my two little cousins and they had no camrea bans and i swear no one died from a little flash photography or video recording.
You all are blowing this so greatly out of proportion it’s not even funny. I was at the Gillette Stadium concert. I was actually about two rows away from this lady. Her camera that was confiscated was not a digital camera that had the ability to take video…it was an actual VIDEO CAMERA. Now I’m sorry, but it was not only Kenny Chesney’s rule that no video taping is allowed, it’s Gillette Stadium’s as well. Gillette does not allow video at ANY event..concerts, lax games, soccer games, even Pats games. So why the lady even brought a video camera when she was in the front row is beyong me. She was asking for it. And the person above described it exactly…Kenny motioned/asked for her camera from her, she HANDED it to him, and then he tossed it to a backstage security officer who then took it. It was not chucked across the stage or grabbed from her hand. This lady is just asking for her 15 min of fame. The best part is, she wasn’t even taking still photos. She was videotaping THE WHOLE concert. I’m sick of this getting so much attention. You Kenny haters are just using this incident which you know nothing about to tear him down. Don’t like Kenny? Then don’t go to his shows. Simple as that. But “prick” is not the word that should be used to describe Kenny with this incident. Ive never met him in person or anything, but this lady was dumb and Kenny didn’t damage her property or anything like that.
Oh, and if you read the rules for both Kenny Chesney’s concert policies and Gillette Stadium’s policies, they say if you are caught videotaping, then they have the right to confiscate your camera and kick you out of the concert. Simple as that. The lady got her camera taken away, she’s lucky she got to stay at the show.
Shawna, You said it sister!! I agree 1000%!!
I think you all are ridiculus and don’t deserve to be kenny fans anyway. If you would get your facts straight then maybe you all could find something better to do then talk crap about a wonderful person. There was a lady right beside the lady that had her camera taken and she said that it was an actual video camera and when the lady got it taken away she said “oh well, i will just record with my phone.” Everyone was aware of the rules and it is even on the tickets not to bring. It wouldn’t be such a big deal if people wouldn’t post crap all over the internet and try to make profit off of someone else. he deserves to be the one that makes the money off of videos because he is the one busting his a!! every night. So just quit talking about it and find something better to do with your time!!!!!!!!!!!!
GO SHAWNA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am truly a HUGE Kenny fan. After last night’s concert in Raleigh, NC, however I will say , I was really disappointed . After paying $300.00 + for my ticket, I would have loved to have taken some pictures of him. I go to his concert his concert every year . I can understand him not wanting videos, but I think no pictures is taking it too far. I realize he works really hard, but we as fans also pay our hard earned money to support him. I saved my PTO’s (paid time off) at work and sold them back to get a seat close to the front this year.
I love kenny, but I’m wondering if maybe Kenny is scared Blake Shelton is gonna see how him and Miranda Lambert are all over each other at the shows are kick his butt !!!
I have read up on the bad comments that people have put in about kenny chesney and how
wrong he was by doing that. What ya’ll do not know is that kenny chesney has a contract
that was made about the no cameras allowed meaning no video cameras.with this cotract he shows it at these places where his concerts are going to be.This is kenny chesney’s policy now.Yes kenny Chesney himself can take video cameras away to at his shows.with a contract he can as well as security. When you get tickets to see kenny and that ticket says no video’s allowed leave your video cameras at home and bring a still camera instead.Follow the rules and do as you are told?
No , kenny chesney did not go to far. with a contract that kenny chesney has is his policy.Kenny chesney is showing this contract at these places before the concert starts. It is even being shown on the tickets and on venue windows no cameras allowed meaning no video cameras allowed.Kenny chesney can have video cameras removed from fans to if he does see you with onejust as much as security can.To avoid this from happening leave your video cameras at home and bring a still camera instead.Follow the rules or do not go in at all?
aldewitt 2000, This comment is for you since i am not able to contact you on flickr.I have read your comment on flickr and you should be ashamed of yourself for making a threat and an abusive remark like you did to kenny chesney if he did take your camera away. You better think what kind of trouble you are going to be in if you do give kenny chesney a black and blue nose over this no camera policy. You will be going to jail for an asult on a country singer that you will serve time for. You and everyone else need to go along with this no camera policy,Follow the rules,or do not go to his concerts if you are going to start trouble because trouble will get you out of these concerts.Think about that.
