Country Music takes center stage when “CMA Music Festival: Country’s Night to Rock” airs Monday, Aug. 31 (8:00-11:00 PM/ET) on the ABC Television Network.
The special has been expanded to three hours to showcase more of today’s most exciting Country Music stars. Kenny Chesney, Kid Rock, Lady Antebellum, Brad Paisley, Darius Rucker, Sugarland and Taylor Swift are the first performers to be confirmed, with more artists to be announced soon.
I am always excited for the airing of this show. I am wondering if they will work out something with Rascal Flatts since they didn’t get to perform this year due to the rainout on the opening night. Personally I think if they do it will rub salt into the wounds of those Rascal Flatts fans who spent an extra two in a half hours in the rain to see if they would come out to perform.
Also, I realize that it says more to be confirmed later BUT…..they are leaving out two VERY important performers~ 1. Dierks Bentley who also waited out the rain with fans. They better show his performance – and the nasty little spill that happened on stage! It was kinda cute and he recovered like a super hero! 2. Luke Bryan! Luke Bryan! Luke Bryan! It may have been his first big performance on the LP Field stage but man did he turn that crowd on! Tawny, me and a million other people that we have talked to say that Luke Bryan was hands down the best performance of the week! Please don’t leave him out!

We must have seen a totally different show at LP Field. Luke Bryan was ok, but not that great. He, like all of the other Friday acts, was blown off the stage by the Zac Brown Band! That is the impressive performance you should be writing about.
Hey Adam – thanks for the comment and you are right. We should have also mentioned Zac Brown Band as they kicked a$$ at LP Field. We didn’t find a single person not in their seat during their set. Although I do disagree – Luke Bryan was way hotter than ok. And I don’t mean hot like good looking. The man was smoking hot and commanded every bit of that stage!
They HAVE to include Luke!!! He’s great
Dierks will def be on it because before he sang sideways i believe it was he said to the crowd to go crazy that was for TV and all…and i believe the fall was a different song..but it was 1am i was up 24 hours so i may be wrong!
I agree though Luke was AMAZING! he def kicked off that night and i hope he is showcased as well as jake owen!
nice to hear people talking about other artists than Taylor Swift!! Hope they show the Little Big Town performance, for those of us who couldn’t go.
Well, maybe it’s not necessarily Luke or his onstage presence, but it’s the material he gets to sing. I have almost every mainstream country CD from 2005 on, and I had a really hard time listening to his. “All My Friends Say” is a great song, but I couldn’t find another one I really liked. I kind of group Luke with Keith Anderson and Rodney Atkins–they are alright, but that’s about it. Anyway, I think the main stage was missing some performers that truly belong on a big stage (Eric Church, Randy Houser, Bomshel, Her & Kings County–who killed at the Hard Rock Stage). Luke just seemed a better fit at the Riverfront. Maybe he’ll grow on me—Rascal Flatts did, but it took a really long time (”God Bless The Broken Road” was too good a song for them not to).
