I was browsing the internet this morning and found a lot of tidbits of information that is worthy of sharing. So here is my Tidbit Tuesday.
Toby Keith has scored his 25th No. 1 single with “God Love Her.” It will top the Billboard country singles chart when the list is released later this week.
Taylor Swift says that her online popularity happened by “accident.” Everyone knows that Taylor Swift rocketed to country music stardom in part because of her online presence and MySpace.
She told The London Times that she created her MySpace page in eighth grade, because that’s how all of her friends talked to each other. She says her friends and their relatives started putting her songs on their profiles and by the time she went to her first radio interview, she already had a grass roots following. But Taylor is quick to say that success didn’t happen overnight. Her self-titled debut album sold 39,000 copies in its first week and took a full year to reach No. 1. Swift says she just kept on playing as many shows as she could, hoping that her career would pick up but never expecting it to.
Martina McBride is performing at the White House tomorrow. It’s part of a special event honoring Stevie Wonder. President Obama will be presenting Wonder with the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song. The hour-long concert will air nationwide on PBS, Thursday at 8 p.m. Eastern.
Jason Aldean says there is one thing that he never leaves home without — his sunglasses. He reveals seven things about himself in the latest edition of Country Weekly, including the fact that snakes are his biggest fear and every time he releases a new single he gets nervous.
