OMG! OMG!

Rascal Flatts got a Grammy Nomination!!!!!!! They are nominated with:
Brooks & Dunn, Lady Antebellum (who is also nominated for Best New Artist), The Steel Drivers & Sugarland for Best Country Performance by Duo or Group.

Way to go! MY FAVORITE TWO GROUPS GETTING PROPS FROM THE GRAMMYS. It’s a good night!

Side note:  yes, another one.  John Mayer is hot with short hair.

Full run down of country Grammy nominations:

Lady Antebellum is nominated with Adele, Duffy, Jonas Brothers and Jazmine Sullivan. Way to represent country music!

NOTE:  The Grammy’s think that the Eagles are pop (not country).  They are nominated for best pop performance by duo or group and a number of other POP awards.

Best Female Country Performance:
Martina McBride
LeAnn Rimes
Carrie Underwood
Lee Ann Womack
Trisha Yearwood

Best Male Country Performance:
Trace Adkins

Shiftwork - Kenny Chesney & George Strait
Killing The Blues - Robert Plant & Alison Krauss

Best Country Album
That Lonesome Song - Jamey Johnson

Can I just say…It kills me that the CMA’s can give Kenny Chesney Entertainer of the Year award for 100 years in a row BUT the Grammy’s don’t even think he is worth a Best Male Performance nomination.  Just makes you wonder how much politics are involved in the music industry.   That just doesn’t match up.

wow…the comment about Chesney was completely unnecessary.

Right on Country Girl…it’s because, musically, Chesney isn’t all that talented….If it were “Best Party Thrower Awards” he’d probably win hands down…or maybe even “Best Island Music” …. I’m think the grammy’s realizes you should reward someone for putting out the same thing over and over and over again.

Hey Amy, I didn’t say anything bad about Kenny in this post. Not really. I was just venting on how political the country music industry has turned. It doesn’t seem right that one awards show would honor an artist year after year with the most prestigious award but that another awards show snubs him (this is the Grammy’s we are talking about). I was just making a statement….really nothing bad about Kenny personally.

I do think country has gotten to “political” it’s way too complicated of an equation…

Hell ya it’s political. Look at artists like Toby Keith and Rascal Flatts. It’s crazy to snub artists like these. They sell major concert venues, have a huge fan base and tour like crazy. It just doesn’t make sense. Political, political, political. It’s like a bad day in high school for the nerds. Popularity from the record execs is what matters….if you ask me we should go back to the days where fans ran the fan clubs and awards should be based on fan votes, record and tour sales.
